bu11zeye (3572), Frisco, Texas, USA May 10, 2008 (22oz bottle) Pours a lightly hazy orange body with a small off-white head. Complex aroma of pineapple, apricot, toasted grain, biscuit, banana, rye, light ginger, coriander, and grapefruit. Flavor of hops (pineapple, apricot, orange), caramel malt, and Belgian yeast.
drewbeerme (1716), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 22, 2008 22oz bottle. bottled a couple months ago but I’m told this was stored in a fridge. pours hazy golden with creamy white head. the aroma is not as hoppy as i was expecting, peach, melon, and earthy hop notes. some spiciness seemingly coming from the yeast. flavor isn’t that bitter either with more sweet candi sugar and biscuity-cookie malts meeting the earthy-dried fruit notes and peachy and apricot hop notes. slightly spicy and dry finish. smooth body and pretty easy drinking. i’m not sure if this is much different and hoppier if it was a bit fresher or on tap (although rates donbut as it is here it seems to fall more on the belgian tripel side with some rather sweet simple candi sugar notes just kissed by PNW hop profile. a much bigger hop profile would help this out a lot as like the idea of a IIPA fermented with a belgian yeast strain, just wish this was a IIPA. daknole (533), Plantation, Florida, USA Jul 16, 2008 My oh my is this a stellar brew! cloudy amber color with a decent white head. Aroma is malty, hoppy, chardonnay and flavors are malty and hoppy wtih flavors of a dry riesling. I really loved this one...yes indeed! Bravo!! jjpm74 (2760), Connecticut, USA Jul 13, 2008 Bomber courtesy of DarkElf. Pours copper with a white head. Smells of resin, citrus, earth, some sweet malt, doughy. Tastes of citrus, resin, dry malt, some touches of pepper, light tartness also there. Finish yields some spicy resin. bhensonb (2735), Woodland, California, USA Jul 10, 2008 Bomber from South Bay Drug. Slightly hazy orange tinged amber color with a minimal white head that quickly degenerated into a few bubbles. My nose knows there’s a lot of pine in here, but it’s not sure whether there is also grapefruit. It’s a very strong aroma. Very full bodied with creamy carbonation. The flavor is like chewing pine needles, with a little malt sweetness. Finish is quite definitely bitter, but it’s smooth, balanced, not harsh. There’s a lot of hop, it’s just not harshly bitter. Damn, but it’s a fantastic drink. HopHeadinAZ (110), USA Jul 9, 2008 22oz Bottle: Pours a hazy medium orange with a small ivory head. The aroma is very Belgian like with notes of Orange and sweeter citrus. I get a good mix of spices, orange and tropical fruit in the taste. There is effervescent quality here too. This is a nice medium to heavier mouth feel and really feels right. While I find myself really liking this beer I have a hard time with the IPA or DIPA category because of the minimal hop presence.
