4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 mmmbeer (1154) - Austin, Texas, USA - AUG 14, 2008
22 oz. bottle in trade from Snojerk321- served in tulip- poured cloudy darken orange, medium carbonation, white ring around the glass for a head. Aroma of grapefruit, floral, and hops from the seventh layer of hell.. Hits the mouth with a defined medium body, malt is very detectable, sweetness and hop holy hellness come in the middle, hops close out on the finish. Not a hopbomb, they seem to have mellowed a bit, but just a very small notch below awesome!

Bottle. Pours with an amber-orange body topped by a medium thick, white head with a good amount of lacing. It’s sweet and malty with a grapefruity hop note, floral notes and some alcohol esters. Medium bodied and moderately carbonated.

22 oz bottle. Pours a hazy orange color with a large creamy white head that lasts and provides good lacing. The aroma is citrus, floral, and piney hops, orange peel, caramel malt, and vanilla. The flavor shows much the same as the aroma with a slight medicinal/chemical quality. The citrus, floral, and stronger dose of pine are present and work with the moderately sweet malt. Decent, but I like some of the other west coast IPA/IIPA better.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Taverner (1044) - San Ramon, California, USA - JUL 31, 2008
Different IPA altogether. Pours copper with white head, aroma is biscuit and some toned down aromatic hops. There’s a bitter bite, but no floral bouquet, no dank skunky note, nothing but just a general biscuit flavor. Nose has some grassy hops but ends on an almost salty note.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 StefanSD (1797) - Lakeside, California, USA - JUL 21, 2008
Fresh 650 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a big sudsy white head that has good retention and left plenty of lacing. The aroma is strong with hoppy pine, fresh cut pine and citrus. The flavor blasts you with a big dose of biter hops set in a pine-caramel backdrop and is rounded out by biter citrus. The mouthfeel is full and malty. The finish is medium in duration and bittersweet. Overall: This is an IPA drinkers IPA (hence its name) this is not a beer for the uninitiated novice. Good tasty stuff!

This Imperial IPA pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Once a major foam over problem was dealt with the beer settles down to have a medium sized white foamy head with nice retention. The aroma is fruity and sweet with lots of grapefruity and piney hops. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are piney, grapefruity and citrusy. Nice balance. Very drinkable Imperial IPA. Lively carbonation. Nice balance, there is enough malt sweetness to counter the hop bitterness. Hides the alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter.

22oz. Nice aroma, kind of "green", like grass maybe or a freashly picked leaf. Medium yellow color, nice white head. Big initial hop flavor that sticks to your tongue,( I like it).Pretty good IPA.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2008 botte, at carolina crew get together, provided by afatty. Ok aroma, sweet, citrus, orange, a papery streak, hints of toffee. Pale golden orange color, big head and lacing. Bitter flavor, more of a grapefruit/lemon citrus. Lite creamy mouthfeel bitter sweet finish. Eh, didn’t do much to exciteme neither aroma or flavor had a strong point for me, just average ipa.

Shared by afatty at the Carolina Crew gathering. Thanks Glenn. Pours a glowing orange amber with a thick white head. Pretty nice fruity, piney, and grassy hop aroma. Flavor is bitter and fruity with a malty, spicy, and slightly bitter finish. Pretty good double ipa, but doesn’t stand out amongst its peers to much.
