3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A tasty and very drinkable DIPA. It hits the style because of the up front hops, and has a good fruitiness that complements the hops. Not so much a palate shredder. Not harsh at all. Pours cloudy golden, with a small amount of soapy white head.Picked up at Half Time around Labour Day, this bottle held up excellent.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 ounce bottle purchased at BevMo in Natomas. The date is 2/24/11, so hopefully that is the bottling date. If so, this is less than 2 weeks old, which would be awesome. Aroma has some sweet candy sugars initially, before there becomes a nice citrus hoppiness. Some mango is definitely in there, which makes it a bit reminiscent of Sculpin. This is just less mango and more sweetness. Mildly hazy (chill haze?) Orange-golden body with a decent off-yellowish head that provides some good lacing. Starts with a fair amount of sweetness, which becomes hoppy shortly thereafter with some citrus, mango notes. Light pineyness, too. This is definitely full-bodied, but the hops and malts play really nicely together, Not overly hopped, but hoped enough so that the malt stickiness is in the background. Finishes with an herbal, pretty damn bitter hop finish, which attempts to hide the ethanol. The ethanol is detected, though, which hurts its mouthfeel a bit. Pretty good, although a little too hoppy for me, despite the style.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear Straw/Golden pour with minimal head. Nose should be tons of resiny hops but smelled weaker than expected. Still get some nice grapefruit and resins in the nose. Light body. Resin and light citrus hops and a candy malt. quick bittersweet finish.
I expected the hops to be more in your face but this is very light (even subdued) and easy to drink. They hide the alcohol well. Good Quality.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle. This one pours a hazy, dark orange color and topped by a thick head of off white foam that shows great retention. The foam slowly settles to a thin film and leaves small lines of lace around the glass. The aroma shows notes of orange and bitter grapefruit hops to go with a massive malt base of toasted caramel. The flavor follows suit with the orange and grapefruit bitterness up front, but is quickly pushed aside by the huge toasted caramel and toffee malt bill. The alcohol is quite pungent also, and adds a bit of heat on the back end. Nearly full bodied with ample carbonation that leads to a lengthy bitter sweet finish. If the alcohol was a little more hidden and with a drier finish we would have something here. Even with those minor flaws it is still a nice example of the style. Good beer.

3.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: FEB 2, 2014 Strong bitterness, but not enough hop going on for what it is advertised for. The bit of hop flavor that comes through is tasty but a bit muddy...the most dominate hop flavor is a really high citrus. Crisp, but the malt is too much. Expect more hop flavor and alcohol for all this malt. Nice color but a bit flat...wish they would have waited a bit on some of those hops so there would have been more hop flavor and aroma. +0.2 on retaste on aroma. Smells great

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 4, 2011 Tap @ CBC. Clear gold pour with a short white head leaving heavy lace. Grassy, pine nose with some ganja present. Medium-heavy body with an underlying sweetness, but this one is dominated by resinous and grassy hops. Citrus and pine finish. Very tasty, I enjoyed this one a great deal and was surprised by it. Reminds me of Leafer Madness. Deserves, like all IIPAs and IPAs, to be sampled as young as possible.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Knightly. This pours a golden-amber color with a tight white head on top. A thin head sticks around and yields some blotchy lacing. Sticky pine in the aroma followed by grapefruit, orange rind, herbal notes, and light malt. The flavors are bitter and oily; full of hops, pungent grapefruit, a dash of lemon, along with an assortment of tropical fruit. Nice and bitter, followed by a dry finish. There’s some sweetness from the malt and tropical fruit but the bitternes prevails and they really work well together. This is really well put together and quite a bit better than their Islander IPA. I understand I’m comparing an IIPA to an IPA but they sure packed a lot of flavor in the extra 1.5%.

Bottle from my Valentine, drowland. It’s always nice to get a gift that tells you exactly what the gift-giver thinks of you - Idiot IPA. Aroma is all sorts of resinous, hoppy, pine, and a little citrus. Taste is lots of pine, a little fruit, caramel, and plenty choppy.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle courtesy Fratto. Pours a slightly hazy like orange color with a bubbly white head. Wow I smell the hops! There are 8 types of hops in this and I can smell all 8. Aroma of spice, citrus, pine sap and flowers. Flavor is very sappy with lots of hops and pine needles. Finishes dry and bitter.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A sweet, orange-vanilla aroma with pineapple and hop resin. Misty, apricot colored beer with an oatmeal head. Good label on a standard US longneck. Woody, briny, good hop kick, a creamy presence in the top of the palate, a little sulphur. Alcohol sting in the finish, substantial mouthfeel. Complex, intense, but not over the top. Creamy mouthfeel. New Leaf Market.
