1.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
UPDATED: JUN 25, 2011 On tap at the Mad Mex in Robinson. Idiot IPA S6L2F1T3O4: Sweet flowery hoppy aroma, almost like smelling a flower. Looks like a darker pale lager. First taste - ooo my! Big triple IPA blast and nastiness trolling across the tongue. Yucky kucky. Chewing on green graoefruit rinds mixed with pine tar and dishsoap. On top of that is this quite sweet syrupy feeling. Terribly on style and way over the top in personality. If there is any CO2 in there, I cannot detect it, just oily mouth coating palate. Just too much for this lager lover. Ruined my taste buds and I canít even taste my wings. Cloyingly sweet and bitter lingering finish just does not go away.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAY 22, 2010 22 oz bottle from CBX. Pours a deep amber with medium white head. Nice aroma of piney resin with a bit of citrus. Very crisp and refreshing first impression. Not my ideal flavoring of an IPA, but unusual and tasty. Bitter through and through, but could use something else to balance it out. Decent pop at the end.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This poured a light oranage color with an off white head. Aroma was lots of citrsuy hops, some peach and mango notes in there too. Flavor was much the same as the aroma, very citrusy, medium bitterness to balance the malts, but not over the top bitterness. Mainly hop flavor in this one and not to bitter but a very refreshing IPA and it hides the alcohol very well.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Awesome double IPA!! This monster of a beer pours a light amber color with a very soft, creamy and sticky off-white head. The beer leaves a beautiful, cascading, sticky lace around the edges of the glass. The nose is full of generous hops, resin, grass, light earth, citrus and pine. The body is smooth, creamy and an attractive mouthfeel. Some of the extremely well-balanced and delicious flavors were of hop resin, dry citrus, light red pepper flakes, earth, bread and a hint of caramel malt. The finish was smooth and delicious, with a subtle hint of alcohol, along with some spicy and dry hops. The Idiot IPA is a masterful beer!

Bottle Pours a hazy amber with an off white head. The head deminishes at a fair pace. A decent thin lacing. Has a nice hoppy aroma of citrus, and spice with hints of some sweet malts. Has a light carbonation. The texture is oily. Has a slight burn to it. The flavor is good. Bitter but not over done. Very crisp and clean. The body is medium. Alcohol is there but not overpowering. A good finish with a great aftertaste. This is a very good beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A delicious and mouth numbing bitter beer! Aroma was fantastic. Strong grapefruit with just a hint of caramel. Pour was a somewhat thick dark orange with decent amount of bubbles and a one finger white head. Taste was the standard west coast hop bomb. Heavy grapefruit rind, hop oil and a slight malty backbone. The mouth is bone dry after the swallow. The strong dry bitterness bites the cheeks along with the good carbonation. Very delicious

On tap at the Tap Room. If youíre drinking beer anywhere else in Pacific Beach, youíre f*cking up. Aroma is all SD IPA...hops, florals, citrus, hops...love it. Palate shot is decent, but Iím spoiled here in San Diego. Flavor isnít anything overcomplicated, just a nice hoppy IPA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma of orange jam,and perhaps old hops in caramel malting, Taste is a pleasant balance, more balanced then you would expect an Imperial IPA.,resiny hops at beginning, caramel sweetness in middle, bitterness in the finish, all straight forward, easy, drinking almost thirst quenching despite its big body,an IPA to indulge in only if your in the area
