3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 AshtonMcCobb (935) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 1, 2011
355ml bottle. Pours a cloudy orange colour. The nose has sultanas with an earthy, malty background, The taste has initially some grapes going into apricots, then earthiness and spice - parsnip and beetroot come to mind. The palate is medium in structure, which continues through the texture and an extremely bitter finish. Overall, great for the hop-heads, but slightly too bitter for me to want more than one. It’s got a lot of taste going on, but that doesn’t mean it’s very tasty.

Pour is light and golden with decent thick lasting white head. Smell is very piney and floral. Taste matches great hop charchteristics. Taste like fresh flowers white pepper and a sweet white corn body.

Bottle at home. Clear orange amber, pale yellow highlights. Two fingers white bubbly head that gradually fades. Nose is big orange peel, marmalade, fresh pineapple. Taste is big juicy marmalade sweetness with a big hit of boozy hops that takes over almost instantly, right through to a long bitter linger. Lovely rich DIPA.

(On draught at Hungry Monk). Pours a clear copper color with creamy off-white head that shows some nice lacing. Active carbonation. Aroma has some pine, resin, orange, grapefruit and a bit of dank hops. Taste is sweet malt with some in-your-face bitterness. Medium bodied with an oily texture. The head adds a creamy element to the beer and helps to tone down the bitterness a bit. Pretty nice DIPA.

[Bottle] Clear copper appearance, good head formation. Fruity hop aroma, grapefruit and apricot, piney and mildly spicy, caramel malts somewhat hidden but present. Creamy caramel malts appear right away on the palate but grapefruit bitterness and spice jumps in fast. There’s some tropical fruit towards the end but grapefruit dominates the aftertaste. Readlly good DIPA.

Pale golden with a tall lasting head that reduces slowly leaving behind a spattered sheet of pancake batter. Aromas of dusty hop spears and sweet candy malt. Medium full nectar with excellent carbonation, gives it somewhat of a creamy texture. This is my kind of IPA, fresh squeezed from the vines and trees. Candy coated malt blubber yet not sweet, some dusty hay bales. Good acid balances this beast. Oh so fresh like driving 5hrs to the beach in the hot summer wind and finally jumping into the ocean all cool like a brisk breeze in the desert. Freakin’ bravo grande on this one.
