COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after Coronado Island, our original India Pale Ale is a liquid expression of hometown pride. Cascade, Chinook, and Columbus hops combine to provide an explosive burst of piney bitterness and lucioius notes of apricot, grapefruit, and mango that are sure to envoke imagery of swinging palms and sun-kissed shores.

Pours a pale gold, with good white head, great lacing, great head retention, thick collar. Aroma is pale malt breadiness, citrus hops (orange and lemon) and pineapple (maybe a hint of mango). Taste is very lightly bitter, the citrus and tropical fruits play well together, with the orange taking center stage. A bit watery in the mouthfeel - light body and medium carbonation.

September 9th, 2012 - It would’t be a San Diego brewery without a simple, core IPA ready to serve the hops hungry masses. Coronado Brewery’s offering is their Islander IPA. The aroma leads with pine and a strong puff of cinnamon, auguring a sweeter sip later. On the tongue, the same duo of pine needles and cinnamon are joined by a black pepper spiciness, which glows by itself in the aftertaste. Although at first blush the Islander IPA looks like just another hoppy ale brewed to make money and keep more adventurous brewing lines open, Coronado Brewery’s Islander is a little different, and exhibits some unique character where I honestly didn’t expect it.

A 355ml bottle shared by Finn. A cloud lag to golden coloured body. Partially remaining pearl white head. Mixed smell of citrus and brown malts. Taste of fresh fruity hops, lemon, peach, and orange, supported by mild malty sweetness. Bitter tail. Well bodied. Soft in the mouth. Pleasant and tasty (at Finns place in Tromsø 27.05.2014).

Bottle. Pours a medium gold with a firm head. Mild hop aroma. Good flavor but not as strong on the citrus and mango flavors as I prefer. Not overly bitter. Pretty good overall.

Lovely citrus hop nose. Great crisp, nice balance between caramel malt and fruity hops, pineapple, grapefruit, mango, touch of chili, pretty clean finish. Clearly a great ipa, a true flavor bomb without being overly bitter.

Bomber at PETCO. Pour clear light orange with lots of frothy head. Nose is grassy, lots of floral and fruit. Notes of breakfast tea, lots of grassy bitterness. Taste is medium bitter, light sweet. Fully, sticky mouth with lively carbonation.
