COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after Coronado Island, our original India Pale Ale is a liquid expression of hometown pride. Cascade, Chinook, and Columbus hops combine to provide an explosive burst of piney bitterness and lucioius notes of apricot, grapefruit, and mango that are sure to envoke imagery of swinging palms and sun-kissed shores.

For places to find a great beer like this, the fantail of the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum was pretty cool. Hazy golden color with a thin off white head. Big floral hop nose with pinching citrus strength. Tons of bitterness in here and more aggressive than the IPAs I’m used to. Resin, candied grapefruit rind, peach, apricot and a strong enough malty backbone to support it all. Went well with my tuna melt. The museum is really neat too.

On tap at the Brew pub. clear gold with creamy tan-yellow head. Nose is quite dank, grapefruit, caramel, and slightly attenuated. Taste is a bit faded, grapefruit, mildly bitter, cream, and orange. Well balanced.

12 ounce bottle. Hazy amber orange color. Big rocky beige head. Fragrant, resiny pine hops aroma. Toasted malt flavor quickly gives way to the peppery bitter hops mouthfeel that dominates the palate. A great IPA that finishes with a lingering spicy hops aftertaste.

16oz draft 6/29/12 (District Kitchen & Wine Bar)-Pours a slightly hazy orangish amber with a small off white head. Taste of hops, citrus, and malt. This full bodied brew borders on a double IPA. This is tasty.

Fruity, citrus aroma, very little malts. Light mouthfeel solid carb. Medium bitterness, solid piney, resinous hop finish. Solid ipa, nothing earthshattering.

My Bottom Line :
Citrusy and floral hop aromatics are nearly balanced out by sugar-y cereals in this impactful IPA.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A slice of foam covers the misty blond.
-Malts offer honeyed flavors but they aren’t too bright.
-I would like to try this closer to the brewery. I get the impression it is past its peak.
-The hop bitterness is resinous and lengthy.
-There is nothing distinct about this West Coast IPA, but it is still a highly competent example.

Bottle.

22 oz. bottle from Bruisin’ Ales in Asheville, NC. Hazy, yellowish-orange pour with a frothy white head. Aroma of light caramel malts and grapefruit rind. Nice bitter hop flavor of grapefruit and pine needles. Lingering bitterness on the tongue. A very nice IPA.

Pours a amber orange with a small off white head. Aroma is of bready malts, citrus, pine, caramel, and some tropical fruits. Taste is similar with alot of sweet caramel malts, citrus, pine, and some tropical fruits. Has a medium body with a slighty creamy mouthfeel and a dry, bitter hoppy finish. overall, a pretty good IPA.

Copper color with an off-white head. Spicy citrus hop aroma. Rich caramel malt on the palate offsets the hop bitterness. An IPA that takes a balanced approach overall.
