Named after Coronado Island, our original India Pale Ale is a liquid expression of hometown pride. Cascade, Chinook, and Columbus hops combine to provide an explosive burst of piney bitterness and lucioius notes of apricot, grapefruit, and mango that are sure to envoke imagery of swinging palms and sun-kissed shores.

Backlog from lost & found notes: Aroma of sweet malts with a slightly overripe fruity sensation. Taste is dried apricots with pineapple, mango and a slight herbal note. I guess this bottle may have been a bit tired from the trip overseas?

Good one with burst of hop bitterness with notes of tropical fruit and boozy alcohol lingering. Not as bright as I had hoped but still very good. 7% makes its pack a punch.

Bottle. Light golden, small to average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish aroma, light - some caramel and some tropical fruitiness, some grapefruit – light citrus hoppyness. Body is light to medium, malty and lightly sweetish, light caramel and some tropical fruitiness, light - some grapefruit/citrus hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, light caramel and tropical fruitiness, some grapefruit/citrus hoppyness. Could be drier (with less caramel) and use more bitterness and body.

A hazy orange beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet and super hoppy combined with notes of grapefruit - the aroma a bit cloying. The flavor is sweet spicy - especially coriander, combined with strong notes of grapefruit. I find the body a bit on the thin side.

Ámbar limpio y espuma blanca compacta. Aromas de fruta naranja, melocotón. Cuerpo maltoso, sabor de frutas naranjas nuevamente y amargor final amable.

Pour is a hazy orange with a large white head. Aroma is super fruity with all kinds of mango and other tropical fruits. Flavor is pretty much on par with the aroma. Big juicy resinous fruity hops. Finish has a dry malty backbone to stand up against the sweet fruity hops. This one pushes all the right buttons for a solid west coast IPA.

Great ale with an excellent mild ale taste, leaves a nice taste and feel in the palate and no heavy feel (no overstimulation of taste buds).

First of all, the color is not a hit. An IPA should preferably be dark golden to amber to emphasize the use of malts. If you use only the pale barley malt, then one obtains simply not the malt rich counterpoint to the hops like a well-brewed IPA should have. Now it is not just the problem which Islander IPA suffer most of, for its hops is also slightly breached in relation to the correctness for an IPA. There are used three, otherwise lovely, hop varieties: Cascade, Chinook and Columbus and they contribute together with a nice taste of mango, apricot and grapefruit. Barley malt make room for a certain sweetness with flavors of fresh grain, but this is where it all ends for this IPA. It is missing simply a balance between malt and hops, so instead it becomes somewhat confused mess where you can not quite figure out if it’s pale ale, IPA or just a kind of ale where brewmaster have used whatever was left over in the warehouse . There is quite good elements in it, but it has only malt sweetness, then an indescribable muddy hoppy bitterness that finally ends up with a synthetic sweetness that not emphasizes the beer type.
