This was a very good IPA, it was a nice surprise. Strong bitter hops flavor yet very well balanced with a really good mouthfeel. My first offering from Coronado and I liked it.

22oz poured into a red solo cup. Brought this to Kate Sessions Park in Pacific Beach with one of my favorite Stone pint glasses......and then promptly broke that glass and was forced to drink this one from the plastic cup, so some of the apprearance part Iím inferring. Nose is floral, fruity, hoppy...can tell this one is going to be refreshing and delicious right from the start. Pours a golden amber with a thick (for an IPA) off-white head. Hits the palate with a subtle kick of hops and citrus. This one is summer through and through. Maybe Iím rating it a bit high because I drank it on a 75 degree day, outdoors on a mountain, overlooking all of Americaís Finest City (including Coronado) but it worked, the whole scene fit perfectly and this IPA played itís part like Denzel Washington.

A: A golden yellow-orange color with a substantial white foam.
S: Pleasant citrus aromas, pineapple, caramel malts.
T: Primarily citrus hops, hop bitterness, and nice malt sweetness. Nothing really "wow" about it, but solid.
M: Good level of carbonation, and medium bodied.
D: Itís definitely drinkable, but as I said, itís not an amazing beer. There are a lot better IPAs from the area.

Bottle thanks to daknole. Pours a clear light orange with a thick white head. Aroma of citrus, grassy hops, hop resins. Flavor of caramel malt, interesting hop resin notes, garlicky hops, citrus. A light sweetness in the flavor. Interesting IPA and definitely pretty tasty.

Location: On tap at the Brewbup, 1/6/10
Aroma: Fresh hops nose of peach, grapefruit, and citrus
Appearance: Clear golden-orange color with a thin off-white head
Flavor: Smooth fruity, hop flavor, juicy, with a nice hop bitterness
Palate: Light-medium body, dry finish, very smooth and drinkable
This is a pretty solid IPA. Simple and solid, it just works. Juicy and smooth with a nice hop flavor.
Randomly, I just noticed that this is my 100th IPA rating on RB.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared with MrBunn. Pours a semi-murky orangish-gold with ample foamy head that disperses quickly enough. Lots and lots of pine-sol pine hops are evident in the nose, with a touch of bitter grapefruit to join in. Taste is a smooth and mellow representation of the nose. Nicely done stuff. Wouldnít want a growler-full, but I enjoyed half a bomber.

Bomber. Pours a darkish orange with a small sudsy head and aromas of floral hops with a little bit of a citrus edge. Flavor is OK... maybe a little watery at times, but there is a nice caramel malt backbone with a resin and citrus hops presence that is consistent throughout the palate and bitter in the finish.

Slowly I have been getting into IPAs. I never really like them. I feel most beer brewers just add a crap load of hops for the bitter hell of it. Few take to the time to balance the brew. Islander IPA, to me, is very well balanced. Nice and bitter with a super supportive malt backing. Very clean pour with a well built creamy tan head. The smell is very nice. Lots of warm suger, orange, lemon, grass, and pine. Bitter and very rewarding going in leading to a smooth and dry finish. some sweetness with the bitterness. I found no sourness. Lacing is wonderfull. The whole glass is layered in a coating on bubbles.
I used to grab one of these while making a sixpack. Now I just get six packs of this.
Really enjoyable and SUPER drinkable.
