2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 kflorence (93) - San Diego, USA - FEB 17, 2008
Had this on tap at the Coronado Brewing Company. Pours a hazy, light golden color with particles, very small head. Smells like citrus, cloves and wheat. Tastes pretty much the same... wheat, citrus, slightly bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light and kind of creamy, probably from the unfiltered yeast particles. It’s not bad, but doesn’t really distinguish itself from other beers of this variety.

Decent hefe, not very interesting. Cloudy gold pour, citrus, banana, wheat, light pepper, and yeast.

Didn’t really pick up much German Hefe notes in the nose. Mostly wheat, light fruity sweetness, some citrus notes, and an earthy peppery hop presence. Pours cloudy golden orange with a thin head. The flavor starts with wheat and cereal notes then moves in to a light fruity sweetness followed by some quenching crispness and a light earthy peppery bitterness in the finish. Nice quenching brew with lively carbonation. Was looking for a little more yeasty twang and notes akin to a Bavarian Wheat though.

Sample at the brewery.
Pours cloudy orange, white head.
Aroma / taste, hoppy, some spices, saaz hops, metallic finish with some yeast, and light citrus hops.

On draft. Cloudy orange hue with big thick head. Light fruity and banana aroma. Flavor is subdued for the style, wheat and fruit flavors dissipate quickly leaving a sweet citrus tang in the finish. Creamy smooth texture with fair drinkability, a decent beer that misses the typical hefe phenols.

A nice average hefeweizen. Fruity and sweet. Nice color and hue. On draft at a sushi joint in San Diego.

(11/5/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Coronado. Cloudy orange color, served with a slice of lemon. Weak aroma with a bit of wheat and fruity esters. Sweetish flavor with yeast, some fruits, and a slightly bitter finish with some hoppy hints. Light to medium body.

On-tap at the brewpub. Pours cloudy orange witha medium sized white head, good lace. Smells subdued malty and plenty yeasty. Tastes cereal malty and yeasty with some slight citrus. Run o the mill, I’m afraid. Medium body, fizzy carbonation.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 alexanderj (2851) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - SEP 13, 2008
On tap at the brewpub. Color was dark; ruddy gold with a white head. Aroma of wheat, hay and lemon, with only a hint of lemon. Flavor was pretty poor. Wheat and hay. The banana seemed to be missing; no spicing or anything to make up for that. Just not a very good example of the style. Maybe should have squeezed the lemon into it.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 dwyerpg (3577) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - SEP 2, 2008
Pretty decent lemon fruit aroma with some wheat. Pretty wheaty beer, but it’s not too bad. It actually has some flavor to it. Okay.

Draft... RBSG ‘08... Hazy deep yellow ale with a small, fluffy, off-white head. Subtle, lightly citric American wheat aroma... refreshing and tantalizing. Medium-bodied and mildly creamy with dancing carbonation. Adequately bittered and citric. Finishes a bit grainy, a touch tart and then dry. There’s nothing traditional or German about this hefe. Refreshing and very drinkable.
