4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
I actually thought this was a much better beer than the islander IPA, not sure why this scored so much lower. Pours nice dark red with a white head. Aromas of citrus Cascade hops, crystal malt and roast. Flavor is full and complex with hints of roast and chocolate coming through at the end. Well hopped all the way though with a long clinging finish. One of the best examples of a West Coast American Amber I have ever tasted. Worth the $11.99/6pack price. In stock now at Hops & Vines in Asheville.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured in to English pint glass. Pours a nice red amber hue. Off white head starts as a 1 finger height and then drops leaving some even lacing. Aroma off the bat is a malty caramel, with floral and citrus hints. Also some nuttiness in there. Definitely get a toasty malt flavor on the front which subsides to a fizzy medium bitter hop flavor on the back with the bitterness and light nut flavor lingering. This is a very drinkable beer that I would recommend for a nice sipping and social scene. Very well rounded in my opinion.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle. It pours a deep amber red color with an off white head. The aroma is nice red maltiness, toasted caramel, toffee and piney hops. The flavor has more pine, red fruit, burnt sugar, caramel and a touch of tropical fruit. The body is nice and the finish is bitter as well as malty. This was a very pleasant red ale.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a rich red/brown color with a brown sugar colored head. Great lacing. Brown sugar and slight licorice aroma. Slightly sour palate typical of a red ale. A definite clove and chocolate palate. Okay, but I've had much better reds.

Bottle. Copper pour with a short tan head. Nose is nutty and earthy with floral hops, dark bread and caramel. Taste is nutty with caramel, toasted dark bread, toasted malt, earthy hops and light fruit notes. Body is medium with a strong, dense, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more floral and earthy hops, citrus notes, caramel, toasted malt and multigrain bread.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Champanes,
this ale had a medium brown pour with a little red color, the beer had a lot of small particles (floaties) in it, the beer gave a one finger faint off-white cover that receded to thin layer and ring,
it had aromas of toasted malt, caramel, some chocolate that reminds me of tootsie rolls, there was some malt sweetness, there was little to no hops,
the flavors were toasted malt, caramel, and a little chocolate, the finish had a little hop bitterness with malt flavor following,
the mouth feel was light with generous carbonation, I think it had a little too much carbonation,
this was a so so drink.
