(Draft: O’Brien’s in San Diego, CA) Coronado’s attempt at a nut brown ale, and it’s okay, but not especially memorable. Mildly sweet, malty, nutty, with a bit of tartness in the finish. Not a whole lot of hops or bitterness in this beer, which isn’t a knock on the beer, just an observation. Lightly malty and nutty nose is pleasant. Medium bodied. Small tan head tops the medium brown body, but dissipates rapidly down to the tiniest of rings. Isn’t bad, but not something I’m likely to order again in the future.

Light brown in color, clear with a thin head. Nice brown ale easy drinking. Missing some of the nutty flavors i was hoping for. Dry easy flavors this was an average ale.

Draught Uniform black beer with almost no head. Coffee, cigarette ash, dark malts. Bitter with chocolate, ashes, mocha, dry finish if some restsugars present. Hint at hops. Light, gristslickness, medium carbonation. Very passable brown ale, easy drinking.

Roasted nutty malts but a weird aftertaste that leaves a bitterness in the mouth. A bit heavy on the carbonation for my liking. Just about average, overall.

Draft. An unclear brown beer with a red shine under a lazing orangey head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt combined with nuts and hints of chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, nuts, and caramel.

Lagunitasfan (1290) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 7, 2009
On tap at Coronado Brew Co. Orange brown with strong head and sticky lace. Aroma is brown sugar, malt, and nuts. Little sweet burst at the first taste bud, then all roasted malt. Bitter hops and yeast finish the bitter malt. Not very well balanced.
