Commercial Description:
A pleasant full, smooth flavor, and rich flavor profile. A roasted malt character of caramel, chocolate, and roasted barley dominates, but is smooth, not bitter. Hop flavor and aroma are mild.

On-tap at Stone today. Pours dark brown with a creamy, light brown head, pretty good lace. Smells smokey and chocolatey malty. Tastes smokey and only slightly chocolatey sweet. Pretty damn smokey and dark malty. If you’re in the mood for some smoke, it’s good. Medium/thin body, good carbonation.

On tap @ the brewery. Poured opaque with a thin beige head that left some lacing. Lots of caramel, chocolate, coffee and toasted malts on the nose. Flavor was complex with all the above mentioned and very creamy.

On tap at Coronoda Brewery in Coronado, San Diego, CA--Dark, abysmal body with a thin wispy beige head. Coffee, chocolate, and milkiness in the finish. Quite nice!

On tap at Hamiltons. Pours with a black body topped by a thick, tan head with lots of lacing clinging to the glass. It’s slightly sweet and creamy with a nice roasted coffee note and an underlying sour note. Full bodied, slightly dry and warming.
