Medium brown color. Medium head. Aroma is orange and malty. A medium bodied strong ale. Malts are sweet and nutty with a touch or orange. Hops are very mild, perhaps a bit dry. Touch of orange and vanilla and the other assorted Christmas beer spices, none of which I can every quick exactly figure out. Nice malt flavor. Very smooth taste. No alcohol bite. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Nice winter beer.

Aroma: Caramel malts, spice (cinnamon, nutmeg), yeast
Appearance: Cloudy amber-brown color
Flavor: Malty sweetness with a light citrus hop backing

Overall Impression:
This was a pretty decent beer. Not a bad winter brew, I enjoyed it enough. I think I liked it better then most of the previous reviewers.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DarkElf (2961) - La Jolla, California, USA - JAN 21, 2005
(Draft: O’Brien’s in San Diego, CA) Roasty, spicy and fairly bitter, but like all Coronado brews, it’s fairly sweet and sugary. The nose is mildly roasty and slightly spicy, but overall it’s not very aromatic. Medium body with a bitter finish. Deep ruddy brown color. Off-white head is small on the pour and soon fades to a small island of film, and then that’s gone too. No lacing obviously. Not bad for a Coronado beer.
