Pours a nearly black and opaque with a mocha head that disappears a little too quickly. Otherwise, a gorgeous brew. Very rich, dark roast coffee aromas. Creamy milk chocolate and coffee flavors dominate, with some cherry emerging. Finishes with coffee acidity. Mouthfeel is extraordinarily creamy, but not viscous. Wonderful stout. Although, the ABV that it is listed here on BA as having is not accurate. According to the chalkboard at Coronado, this beer is 10% ABV.

22oz bomber pours with an inky black void like body that supports a nice looking mocha colored head. The aroma offers up thin dark roasted malts, thick chocolate malts and then some chocolate brownie notes. Yummers. The taste is smooth and velvety with a Mel Tormé sort of silkiness. I get velvety fog like smooth melted chocolate bar mixing with rich oily dark roasted coffee, dark roasted malts and then sweet chocolate brownie. This is hitting the spot right now. Rich, roasty and chocolate? I say yes.

I like this one. Smooth. Not particularly complex, but for the ABV, incredibly drinkable. Slightly but not crazy sweet. Don’t think about it too hard and it’s wonderful.

65 cl. bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2014. Courtesy of & thx! to Sebletitje. Black with a mocha head. Sweet touch boozy nose, liquorish, syrup, hint molasses, caramel, mocha. Taste is sweet, malty, toffee, mocha, touch liquorish, plenty of mocha. m/m body. Simple, nothing earth shattering but very substantial never the less.

Chocolate-y aroma; a lot like brownies. Cocoa, sweet, roasted malt flavor.

Bottle. Moderate toasted and dark chocolate for the malt, light burnt herbs and earth for the hops and yeast, with vanilla and alcohol in the background. Head is small to average, frothy/creamy, light tan with good legs and lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Palate is medium to full, creamy with a soft carbonation an a sticky and lightly alcoholic finish. There’s both bite and smoothness in this top notch Imperial Stout.

Tap @ O’brien’s. Listed as Stoopid Stout. I really have to disagree with VAc this was nice. Pours black with a light brown head. Nose of coffee and roasted notes, slight chocolate in there too. Taste is full of chocolate, and coffee, very rich, super malty.

Dark brown in color with a thin tan head. Nice roasty aroma. Pretty simple coffee/chocolate aromas with a similar taste. Palate was somewhat thin, but I found that to actually be pleasant and easy to drink. Alcohol was completely hidden.

Note: The spelling is Stupid on a bomber. Bomber from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. Fred’s got the good stuff! Pours very dark brown/black with a slight, transient, tan head. The aroma is coffee and chocolate, but it’s a deeper, more intense, sort of aroma than is common. Full bodied. Very slick. Flavor is coffee, chocolate and treacle. Plus the usual burnt to crap malt which is very smooth. Comes to the finish with the foregoing and a lot of bitter. Amazing ale.

Massively aromatic hop and deep roasted malts come through on the aroma. Jet black color with almost no foam at all. Enormous deep roasted malt complexity with a strong earthiness on the tail end. Most evident flavors include roasted coffee beans, molasses, brown sugar, strong hops and resin. Very smokey texture with a hint of booze on the finish. Overall, I am really impressed with this brew. Big roasted malts yet, still having a noticeable hop profile. I’d give this an A+ rating.
