This deep, dark, viscous brew stands up to other imperial stouts, delivering big flavors in a smooth, balanced and easy-drinking package. Robust and chocolaty with a hint of hop freshness, it’s the perfect beer to warm up with as winter cold sets in.

Bottle. Poured dark black like motor oil with a tiny tan colored head. Aroma is sweet and smells of rich roast malts that bring out the chocolate. The drink is rich and robust with perfectly blackened malts that give off a taste of bitter sweet chocolate and fresh ground coffee bean. Great Imperial stout.

Brown pour from a bottle with the original (?) name ’Stupid Stout’ - slight tan head. Deep rich malty nose with a hint of hops. Taste is pretty good, but this doesn’t feel too ’Imperial.’ Nice hop presence, big malt as well with a good amount of sweetness and bitter chocolate in the finish.

Draft at Whole Foods Plymouth. Thick, dark black pour with brown head. Heavy dark malt, cacao, molasses in the nose, with an intense malty, cacaoey flavor with some hops and lactic balance. Very good.

Tasted at Willow Park Beer Bash 2014. Unfortunately, there was no time for detailed notes - and I only made it through half my list even so!

The aroma is chocolate, boozy, roast. The appearance is jet black, tan head. The flavor is chocolate, Bosco like, oak, light booze, light roast. The finish is light roast, light sweetness, light pine. Medium to medium/thick in body. Pretty good.

Bottle... Pours black with a small head. The nose is all about mocha – espresso grind and dark chocolate - and a big time toasted tree nut component - mainly pistachios and almonds. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Unfortunately, the flavor is not as kind as the aroma. It’s no more than a blend of rindy and burnt bitterness, and charcoal. Lengthy, carbonic, metallically bitter finish. Yuck.

Very dark brown with highlights and a tan head. Aroma of lots of roast and chocolate, dark fruit, malt, brown sugar. Taste of roast and ash, bitter chocolate, carbonation a little too high for the style. Roasty palate. Good RIS, but not in the "excellent" range.

Hasn’t been a 6% english stout for 5 years, from what I can tell (and it was called Stoopid Stout then). Bomber, pours pretty dark, as usual. Feel is medium bodied and smooth. Maybe a touch lite for 9%, but solid. Simple beer, but tasty...mostly chocolate and roasted malts with a little back end bitterness but more sweet in nose and flavor than anything else. "
