(Draft: Coronado Brewing Co. in Coronado, CA) Tent City Tan, which according to the menu used to be called Red Rock Amber, looks pretty ruddy for an amber ale, and it’s a fairly dark amber too. The small, off-white head settles to a perfectly even, filmy layer. The nose just isn’t very aromatic at all, and no particular aromas jump out at me. It just smells a little sweet and caramely, like most brewpub ambers. The flavor is also quite generic: lightly caramely, lightly sweet, somewhat grainy and gently bitter. Just not much going on here. Balanced but boring. Medium-bodied and fairly clean and crisp for an amber. The dense curtain of lace on the glass dissipates at a much slower rate than the head. Yup, another boring, generic brewpub special, not worth drinking the rest of the pint.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours dark amber in color with a thick off-white head. Has a bit of a citrus aroma. Perhaps a bit of coriander? Good bitterness and GREAT lacing. Spots form atop the head. Finishes with a low-tartness lingering bitter bite. Nice.
