On tap in a bar at Brussels next to Grand Place. Poured a black beer with off-white head, persistent and with good lacing. Aroma is toasted malts, candy sugar and licorice. Flavour is moderate alcoholic, toffee, sweet and fruity. In the final results a beer well balanced, with a moderate sweetness. Carbonation is soft, body is full, the texture is creamy.

draft@restaurant: dark chestnut brown with a slightly tanned head, beer itself is way too watery mess with watery roasted malt, liquorice, syrup, brown sugar, milk chocolate & rotting dark fruits, not horrible or anything because it is too watery to carry a real punch

Dark black beer, a candle reveals a nice red glow. Nice, dense pillowy head, nice retention and good lacing. Aroma rather sweet, dark malts, liquorice (drop), brown sugar (bruine basterdsuiker). Flavour rather sweet too, syrup, molasses and more liquorice. Surprisingly light bodied, thin. No lingering sensations. Quite a looker, aroma is promising but in the end it proved to be a lightweight. (from tap @ bar in Turnhout)

Tap at Paradiso Georgetown. Yes, this is the 6.5% version. Not sure how we got this in DC but I’m glad we did. The pour is a near black, dark ruby with a dense, small, tan head. Little sticky tan lace. Aroma is meaty, fatty, and rich with black cherries and milk chocolate. Body is full on dubbel: malt forward with spice. Heavy on chocolate covered cherries, raisins, and milk chocolate. Medium bitterness to balance. Rich, velvet mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Good stuff.

30/09 On tap at Hopdevil, Zagreb. It poured clear brown body with medium sized brownish head. Weaker but pleasant fruity malty aroma, slightly vinous dubbel-ish. Sweetish malty flavor, fruity like plums, smooth. Medium and relatively cloying body with overly sweet finish. Not really my style, but not very good either, lacks some better balance.

Dark brown color, plums, cherries an milk chocolate in the nose. Plummy, milk chocolate notes. Finishes a bit watery and unbalanced. Not really as good as expected.

Draught Very good, dense & fine head, over reddish cola-coloured beer. Liquorice, dark malts, some pine, dark candi sugar. Sweet smelling. More liquorice zoete drop , syrupy, treacle. Beer falls dead, even the carbonation can’t save it. "Thick" mouthfeel. What’s the point?

On tap at Hopdevil, Zagreb. Brown coloured, medium sized creamy beige head, quite pleasant malty and fruity nose with hint of alcohol. Sourish malty, odd lactic and fruity taste (too fruity for me) with touch of alcohol. Notes of metal in the finish. Better than Blond but not much.
