flavor is caramel, faint fruitiness, boozy, nuts, faint metal flavor. reasonably balanced, but not well balanced, strange herbal/spicy bitterness. aroma was somewhat better than flavor.

Oct 23, 2009 Pours a darkish brown, with a somewhat touch of purple. Has a spicy, smokey aroma. Tastes malty and not too overpowering. You can taste the definitely the alcohol, but its still smooth.

Oct 6, 2009 Medium brown with beige head. Nutty aroma; has a crisp smell, like a good soda. Deep malt also comes through. Interesting flavor; like root herbs and malt combined. Dry mouthfeel. Very good.

Aug 27, 2009 750 ml bottle.Pours brown with a big off white head.Aroma of yeast ,green apples ,dried fruits and spice.Flavor is spicy with some alcohol.Yeast , molasses and apples with hints of cacao.Medium to thin body.Very good beer just not as complex as the best Belgian strong ales.

Aug 6, 2009 750 ml bottle-Poured brown with a decent size white head. Aroma of yeast, fruit, spices, caramel, and malt. Taste of the same with a bit of chocolate thrown in. This medium to ful bodied brew is very well balanced and tasty.

Jul 19, 2009 Dark brown pour with deep ruby tinge. Small, but frothy, tan head. Sounds lively as it rises. Distinct Belgian yeast aroma, fresh biscuit dough, fresh Granny Smith apples, mild cloves, and molasses. Sweet and malty is really the only way to describe this. A caramel / molasses combo with notes of biscuits, dried figs and dates, softened cinnamon apples and fleeting moments of oranges. Finishes tart with nuances of chocolate. Overall it is very close to liquid apple cake. Medium bodied with a smooth palate. Very drinkable.

part of our christmas in july lineup. a nice malty christmas beer. a little spice and dark fruits in the nose... tastes and smells like grape jollyranchers.. in a good way? it really is delicious, really drinkable and smooth. alcohol present but not overpowering.
