bottle, Dankeschön nach Bochum. Dark brown colour, large beige head. Superb aroma of malt, roasetd malt and chocolate. Full-bodied, very malty and sweet with lovely hints of caramel, chocolate, dried fruit, raisins, prunes and a touch of spices. Delicious winter warmer.

Had a draught one at a Belgian pub in Antwerp at the Wapper. Very nice rounded ale, tastes like toffee and nuts. Had a Pater afterwards but could not compare to the X-mas ale.

Bottle dated 12/09/09. Dark brown, but translucent with a red tinge when held to the light. Nice head. Very rich beer, chocolate cake, toffee and spice anise in particular. Dessert in a glass. Alcohol doesn’t show but it is filling.
