4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml [corked, best before end 27 March 2003, drank 1/2004]: pours a burnt reddish brown, the dense, puffy head rises and falls with each pour, but never goes away and clumps into creamy patches between each sip . . . sticky aroma of licorice flavoured cotton candy, freshly baked dough, cedar, plums, granny smith apple flesh, bread pudding, and caramel. Soft, though thick on the tongue; makes the mouth water, and then finishes bone dry. Light alcohol is noticed right before sweet fruity malt flavours, yeast, gooey maple syrup and some nutty spices. Makes me want to do Christmas again . . .

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The aroma is not exactly what I wanted. Bitter smell and first taste. Spicey flavor takes hold making this not exactly what I want but it will grow on you.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Sweet and sour aroma with hints of yeast, banana and spices, nice deep ruby colour.
Complex spicey taste with orange and a light canesugar tune. Feels like a "Tripel"
Suitable as a nightcap!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A rich, deep, full-tasting holiday ale. Definitely one of the better X-mas ales. Pours with a good, solid, dark ruby-red color. Complex, aromatic nose. Tastes of nutmeg, all-spice and orange rinds with hints of cocoa and cinnamon. Overall, very good and filling.... can't wait until next year to have more!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very atringent and spicey. Crisp and harsh on the palate. The flavors are good and well balanced. Light fruits with holiday spices. I think I'm just a bit more partial to smoothness of a dubble.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A really great brew from Corsendonk. Pours a deep redish brown with a medium beige head. I don't understand why I dont live in Belgium

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Beer 33 Belgium trip. Looks like Coke, especially when pouring, as it gets a big head that rapidly fades away. Aroma of baking bread and tangy yeast. Flavor matches, along with a note of spiced carrot cake. Balanced by the malts, this wasn't overpowering. Well done.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours an appealing semi-murky brown. Ginger and. . .allspice? If I cooked more, I might know the name for it. A bit too spicy--without the maltiness of the dubbel, this seems to finish with an unpleasant atringency. If other ratings are true and the larger bottles are better, I'll have to re-rate this eventually.

(draught, wildeman) a small off-white head. A spice beer, bitter, cinnamon etc. but in general failed to impress
