COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
On the palate this silky smooth ale is predominantly malty, with smoky, spicy and citrusy notes, and a long, lingering finish that is lightly tart and malty.

Editor’s note: Sold as both Corsendonk Christmas Ale and as King’s Blue in Norway.

Good example of how a beer can be malty but not sweet. Little bit of tartness that is the most interesting thing about this beer. Dry Belgian styles are not my favorite, though.

Dark amber color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is spicy and malty. A medium bodied Belgian Ale. Malts are fruity, nutty and sweet. Very spicy and fruity. Cinnamon, cloves, plums and orange. Nicely balanced. Lively carbonation. Smooth taste. Hides the 8.5% alcohol very well. A nice Belgian belly warming ale. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

I had the 2002 vintage and was greatly looking forward to the experience. It was indeed an excellent beer but not quite spectacular. I was slightly disappointed in the finish, which seemed faintly metallic (almost like blood). There are a lot of complex flavors in this beer; it's rewarding to savor and identify them.

2002 bottling. Interesting malty, fruity and spicy aroma, some dark breadiness and cocoa, with touches of herbal hop, coriander, mint, toffee, and perhaps some faint tangerine. Dark reddish brown color, slightly hazy, with an off-white, settling head. Malty and fruity to start, traits of plum and blood orange, turning sweet and spicy with notes of caramel sweetness, milk chocolate and baking spices, and seeing some peppery alcohol, bitterness and tart citrus added to the mix just in time for the finish. Gently warming, moderate amount of acidity, effervescent on the palate and medium-full bodied. Unique and intriguing flavor development. I had been looking forward to trying this beer for quite some time, a couple of years at least, and was not disappointed. Thanks, Jordan.

What's not to like about this? Smooth and creamy brew with a fantastic taste and flavor. An exceptional Christmas Ale with a special signature finish!

Dark brown with tall tan head. Fruity aroma with notes of raisins. Slightly bitter start and then a little fruity and smoky. Almost dry palate.

Ruby brown. Medicinal, spice yeast nose. Small sticky off white head. Sweet, butterscotch, toffee, caramel, yogurt, anise, chocolate. Other spice, dusty, earthy, light smoke? Medium bodied, belly warming, finishing yeasty, spice, and a slight lingering bitterness.

Smells like a minty pine cone. Appearance is a reddish brown. Flavor is slightly tart up front witha minty, spicy finish. I really like th emouthfeel - nice and smooth. Had this one at the Southern Ratebeer Gathering in Austin, TX on December 6, 2003.

Beautiful deep amber color with an off-white head. Sweet caramel and peppery spices in the aroma. Strong malty peppery flavor, with a hint of smokiness and dark fruit. Pretty strong carbonation. Warm alcohol aftertaste.
