On the palate this silky smooth ale is predominantly malty, with smoky, spicy and citrusy notes, and a long, lingering finish that is lightly tart and malty.

Editor’s note: Sold as both Corsendonk Christmas Ale and as King’s Blue in Norway.

Pours a semi-dark amber with a white head. Smells sweet with caramel hints, kinda spicy. Taste is very syrupy and thick, with some light spiciness, bready. Fairly simple, not impressed.

Pours brown with good tan head. Aromas of caramel malt and plums or raisins and holiday spices. Flavors much of the same with a little bit of cocoa as well. A little bit thinner in the palate than I was hoping for with a Christmas Ale.

the rich, smoked ruby color of thick maple syrup, but clear-- and on top it bears a heavy, slurpy head that laces in parchment colored weaves and wobbles. it smells like a mandarin orange cake with creamed nutmeg meringue-- like a load of fresh juniper berries and coriander in an old wooden chest. full bodied and sweet with the same oily citrus bitters, backed with malts that resemble mild coffee and pumpkin bread. the carbonation wore itself out quickly, so as it warmed it flowed as easily as water over smooth stones, while the alcoholic component crept inconspicuously among the dark amber shadows. if grand marinier made a beer, it might be like this.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2008 Hazy brown body. Aroma is metallic with spicing, fruit, unrefined sugar. Medium to light body, somewhat sweet. I used to like this?

Bottle. Brown beer with a biege head. Sweet candy malt and some fruit aroma. Dark fruit flavor that’s yeasty with some malt backing. Finishes dry. Well balanced and easy to drink. Masks alcohol well.

Very clean and balance brune. Lite mouthfeel some woody and bread notes with toasted almonds and raisins. Not near one of the best Belgian Christmas beers. Just average.

Very dark red, amber color.Spices, licorice, toffee, sweetness, caramel in aroma, very rich. Little beige head. Licorice, chocolate, caramel, lasting sweet chocolate in aftertaste. Mild alcohol in aroma and flavor. Somehow short ending, still excellent brew!

Ruby with a lasting beige head. Great aroma, some banana notes, caramel, spices. Sweetish yet balanced flavour. Banana showing up again, with toffee, plums and spices. Little bit thinner than i was hoping for in body, but still a really tasty beer.
