On the palate this silky smooth ale is predominantly malty, with smoky, spicy and citrusy notes, and a long, lingering finish that is lightly tart and malty.

Editorís note: Sold as both Corsendonk Christmas Ale and as Kingís Blue in Norway.

Dark ruby brown in color with decent head that lasts awhile. Light malt aroma. Flavor was fruity with a little malt. Could taste banana, apple and maybe cherry? Has a slight alcohol finish.

Draft, at the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Places/ShowPlace.asp? Tree Inn, Blue Island, IL. It may not be fair to rate this when Iím still coming off a cold, but I still find it very interesting. A deep ruby color, brown head with a hoppy taste all its own. Beer itself is a light blend of spices, some allspice perhaps, and dried apple. This was poured from a beer engine, so not much carbonation, and a flannel-type mouthfeel. Found the alcohol to be very strong only after the finish.

Very malty with sone citrus and noticable alcohol. The flavor is distinctively Belgian. I did not detect much in the way of spice in the aroma or flavor, so it seemed less of a holiday style and more of a straight ale.

Nice malty nose with some fruit and spices. Reddish colour with lively off-white head. Flavor is malty with some spices, hints of alcohol and yeast in the finish.

75 cL bottle, chalice, bbe 22/09/06. Bread, grain and nutty malts; spruce and lemon hops; and earthy yeast are all in balance but overshadowed by date, smoke and primarily leather aromas. Small (for a Belgian) head is off white in color, frothy in texture and crowns a deep maroon beer. Moderately sweet, moderately acidic flavor becomes a lightly sweet, moderatley acidic, lightly bitter finish. The bitterness in the finish spruce-like, almost to the point of being metallic. A leathery taste lingers long after the beer is gone from the palate. Cinnamon, nutmeg and perhaps cardamon become aparent in the aftertaste once the beer warms a bit. I donít really feel any astringency in the beer, but there is a steady and building numbness on the middle of my tongue. Medium body, watery/slick texture, fizzy carbonation. The bottom line is: I was really hoping for more considering my attraction to the other two Corsendonk beers...This is an odd beer.

This is a strange brew. I like it and it sucks. Old leather, crisp bad belgian brown with a weird almost creamy chocolate finish. I drank a whole cork top at 50 F and it still boggles the mind. Things that make ya go Hmmmmmm?!

This is a delicious ale. My bottle 75cl, 9.4% alc. Drinking it warm on christmas eve, it goes down big with a hint of spice at the back of the tongue.

75cl corked and caged bottle. BB 16 09 04. Its past the BB date, but not sure how old that makes it. I grabbed the last bottle of the shelves of Johnís Grocery in IAC back in Oct...cork says Lot*020722 if that means anything. Dark brown/amber, Tan head drops to nothing. Strong bead. Earthy smell, slight oxidized wetness....orangey and peppery spices rising as it breathers. Thin beer. Murky, tangy spiciness, but it just thins out to nothing but weak alcoholic spice. Not very graceful or elegant. Clunky and old...leathery. Leaves a sweet alcoholic feeling in my mouth. I wonít grab this one again. This was worse than the Delerium Noel foru sure.

smells like fruitcake with a little wet cardboard oxidation mixed in. I get a little pine in there also. Color is a clear bronze with a brownish/white head that dissapates into a frothy ring on top. Mouthfeel is a little thin and fizzy. Toffee and caramel hits the tip of the tongue while acidic cherries hits the back. I taste a little oxidation in there which takes away from the overall experience a little. The aftertaste leaves a strange clove-like numbing affect on the tongue. The flavors last for a while. I kind of didnít like it at first, but itís all starting to come together. Very nice and enjoyable and very easy to drink.
