3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
smells like fruitcake with a little wet cardboard oxidation mixed in. I get a little pine in there also. Color is a clear bronze with a brownish/white head that dissapates into a frothy ring on top. Mouthfeel is a little thin and fizzy. Toffee and caramel hits the tip of the tongue while acidic cherries hits the back. I taste a little oxidation in there which takes away from the overall experience a little. The aftertaste leaves a strange clove-like numbing affect on the tongue. The flavors last for a while. I kind of didn’t like it at first, but it’s all starting to come together. Very nice and enjoyable and very easy to drink.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: Very malty, spicey, and fruity aroma. Pours a transparent dark red with a real nice off-white head with very good retention. Excellent lacing. Real nice malt flavor up front. Kind of a creamy, caramel, and fruit combination. Finishes rather spicey with a little clove that continues to linger in aftertaste. Hops are only very subtle. A touch of metal keeps this from being an even better beer. One of the better Christmas brews I’ve had.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Looked beautiful in a Corsendonk glass, large head, spicey malty cherry like taste with a tart berry sweet aftertaste. Very well blended. About the best non-hoppy holiday brew I’ve had(so far) this year

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 21, 2005 I like it. A lot. As the descrip says though, predominantly malty flavors. I’d prefer a tripel for a more complex flavor though. It reminds me of tripel karmeliet on the palate, but just not as many different flavors. A nice, lingering aftertaste. Worth a try for sure. Preferential to Chimay bleu for my tastes, but about the same quality and complexity.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(draft) Smelled better than it tasted, but it smelled fantastic. Nice and malty with some spice aroma that I couldn’t identify. Taste was very similar to the Great Lakes Christmas Ale - if you like that, you’ll like this.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I was somewhat disappointed with this one. There is a degree of peatiness here that rounds out a good beer but verall it was one that failed to live up to my expectations.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The look of this was like soda. Pretty nice. The aroma was good too, like the saisons. Good malty aroma. The taste was good, but a bit sweet. Good beer. I’m glad I tried it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Surprisingly hoppy aroma is the first thing to strike you after this dark brown pour is unleashed. A substantial head lingers atop the malted goodness. The flavor is sour and spicy, with a touch of pineapple. The hops return in the finish - to round out a nice ride.

Tried at Christmas party a little smokey so could not detect any aromas. Ruby brown color, raisins hints of chocolate, finneshes slightly yeasty
