On the palate this silky smooth ale is predominantly malty, with smoky, spicy and citrusy notes, and a long, lingering finish that is lightly tart and malty.

Editor’s note: Sold as both Corsendonk Christmas Ale and as King’s Blue in Norway.

Ruby brown. Medicinal, spice yeast nose. Small sticky off white head. Sweet, butterscotch, toffee, caramel, yogurt, anise, chocolate. Other spice, dusty, earthy, light smoke? Medium bodied, belly warming, finishing yeasty, spice, and a slight lingering bitterness.

Smells like a minty pine cone. Appearance is a reddish brown. Flavor is slightly tart up front witha minty, spicy finish. I really like th emouthfeel - nice and smooth. Had this one at the Southern Ratebeer Gathering in Austin, TX on December 6, 2003.

Beautiful deep amber color with an off-white head. Sweet caramel and peppery spices in the aroma. Strong malty peppery flavor, with a hint of smokiness and dark fruit. Pretty strong carbonation. Warm alcohol aftertaste.

750 ml. brown bottle, corked, with a strange looking banded cage on it. 2003 batch. Lot number 131484. $9.99 at Rip's. Poured out a deep, dark amber color, with a huge cappuccino colored head. It fades slowly back to yeasty islands floating on top of the beer. Aromas are of slight smoky malts, brandied fruits, nutmeg, cinnamon, bready yeast, rum soaked plums, and definitely alcohol. Tastes of smoky malt, spices, and dried, dark mascerated fruits. Aromatic alcohols fill the nose along with the spices, and blend into a fruitcake in a glass. Rich mouthfeel, sharp tingly finish to it as well. No hops aromas, but a slight hops zing at the end, before it is swallowed. A really good Christmas beer. Would go really well with a rich Christmas feast, like a smoked goose, or a honey baked ham. One of the best seasonals I've ever had, bar none.

Dark ruby color with a large frothy off-white head. The aroma and flavor were very spicy...I can't quite tell which spices though. Nice perfumey tones...clove-like yeast...sweet malt. Pepper and alcohol in the finish. Tingly, yet thick feel. Enjoyable.

Clear red amber color. the aroma doesn't anticipate the flavor. I struggled to get an aroma out of it but the flavor had a lot of interesting things gonig on--perfume, pepper, a hint of mint. It had an average body--frothing life--but an underlying thin composition it seemed. Thanks to TChrome for sharing a 3L bottle! (Sampled at Southern Ratebeer Gathering, Austin, TX, December 6, 2003)

Brown with ruby highlights, small but creamy lace, aroma of raisins, beef and subtle smoke. Initially smooth, then seems kind of watery, like it needs to be salted for more flavor if you know what I mean, but the aftertaste is nice, blueberry, strawberry and a small puff of smokeyness over some caramel and very light butterscotch. Not real assertive or complex, but pretty good.
