4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Delicious, very fresh on tap at Lionheart Pub, Albany N.Y. ( $4.00/ Shaker "pint". )Near perfect appearance/ aroma. Has "holiday" style spicing, but not overdone..in fact ideal balance and drinkabiity. "Belgium" yeasty flavors intact. Overall, best Holiday ale. Alcohol well-hidden.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled (brewed 1st Sep 2004)
Nut brown hazy, medium creamy brownish head. Aroma has raisins and grapes - quite soft nose. Medium-bodied. Fruity, malty, a bit citrusy and chocolaty. Finishing fruity, not showing much ABV, soft mouthfeel. This is very trappist dubbel-like brew.

This is christmas... Had this one from a copita-glass, which must be the perfect belgian beer sampling glass. The aromas is enhanced times 10. Fruity, complex, sweet, a bit of yeast (It is Belgian!) It’s nice with a x-mas ale tasting of xmas. (We weren’t used to that in Denamrk until recently)

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Fruity, complex, aroma with notes of alcohol. Rich, ruby-brown body with minimal lace. Very flavorful. Caramel malts, with raisin and plum. Light hop bite followed by a caramel finish. Caution: contents of bottle under high pressure. Opening a bottle can lead to a chipped stove (-1 point on appearance for this)! Lot n° 137250.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap @ Andy’s Corner. Have had this in the past, but never on tap before. Dark, hazy amber color with a medium sized tan head. Sweet malty aroma with some unidentifiable spices. Smooth, rich
malty flavor with some dark fruit and spices. Better than I remembered, and I remember it being pretty good.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 18, 2005 Corsendonk products are in my esteem a nice mid quality Belgian brews. Nothing to write home about but solid in their own right. Sampled this one from a 12 oz brown bottle. I was encouraged that it was a 12 oz as most Belgians come in 11.2 oz instead. The brew poured a dark mahogany color with a s large fluffy tan head. A rather pretty beer overall. The aroma was sour, sweet and mildly spicy. There was a nice dark malt element and a hint of maple syrup and molasses. The sharp hop presence is a bit surprising in a Belgian and I liked that quite a bit. There was a hint of ripe fruit on the finish. My only real complaint is that the beer is pretty fizzy and that is a texture issue that I do not much care for.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear amber color with an almost tan head. Aroma is kindda florally with anise or fennel. Flavor is coffee and anise with a bitter finish. Also a bit yeasty. I would prefer a bit more maltiness in this one.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2008 (Bottled) Dark amber color with a small, beige head. Sweet and malty aroma with mandarine and some anise hints. Sweet, caramely-malty flavor with plums, licorice and raisins. Medium to full-bodied palate with medium carbonation. Hides the ABV well. A brew with good potential, but it definitely needs more maturing. [Re-rate: forget about the maturing! At least a bottle with BBE 09/2004, stored in room temp for another year, was quite offensively flowery-herby. I suppose a fresh bottle is the way to go. Didn’t change the score as the bottle was old, though. A year old 0.75l bottle was ok.
