Commercial Description:
On the palate this silky smooth ale is predominantly malty, with smoky, spicy and citrusy notes, and a long, lingering finish that is lightly tart and malty.

Editor’s note: Sold as both Corsendonk Christmas Ale and as King’s Blue in Norway.

(From old notes, 0.75 l bottle on 2008-01-12) Quite ok Belgian ale, The spices used for flavouring can be found both in nose and taste. Sweetness from malts.

35cl from Countryside Liquors (FL). Pours a dark, reddish brown with a one-finger tan head that diminishes quickly but still provides lacing. Smells sweet, malty, hints of sour wood, and nuts. Flavor is sweet, malty, woody, with a dry finish. Well-balanced Christmas Ale.

750ml bottle (alko)
Dark but clear brown, large tight beige head. Sweet fruity notes on the nose - some raisins, plums, and a hint of pineapple. Sweet richly roasted malts too. Pleasantly lively in the mouth. There’s a soft and sweet liquorice direction to the taste, almost salty too, but the body’s also quite creamy. Tart spicy finish, more liquorice and richly roasted malts. Disappointing for a Bocq - it’s only excellent!

Pours brown with light tan head that disapates fast. Aroma is spice and some citrus. Flavor is spice and smokey with nice sweet finish. I was hoping for a meatier mouthfeel that is more prevelant in the tripel and dubbel from Corsendonk but not a bad effort.

Bottle. Brown in colour with a goldy head. Smell masked by the kick arse curry I’m cooking. Not as spicy as some Christmas ales which I certainly like. Maybe my favourite festive beer?

Bottled. A chestnut coloured beer with a very short lived beige head. Boozy raisins and spice abound on the nose, with the taste being sweet malts, fruits and licquorice. Pretty plummy. Christmas spices are really harmonious. A nice beer.

Brown body with spices and fruits on the nose. Spicy body with a little yeast bite. A good belgian ale but a little disappointing on the finish.
