Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Dec 18, 2007 Bottle pours a fairly clear red with a decent head that clings the side and leaves some spotty lace.. The aroma is spiced and subtle dried fruit - sort of yeasty. The flavor is spicy (clove), rich malt, and more dry then I anticipated. This must be fresh; the hops still have flavor. There is a sour linger more detectable as it warms. The palate is rich and has a pronounced carbonation that cleanses nicely. Overall, this is pretty darn good and perhaps underrated. ekstedt (2411), Göteborg, Sweden Dec 17, 2007 Updated: Nov 28, 2008Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget. Dark murky reddish brown with a medium beige head. Overwhelmimgly spicy malt aroma with ginger, orange peels, and clove. Good mouthfeel but too sweet for me as most belgian Xmas beers. LooseCannon (914), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Dec 16, 2007 750ml bottle, Thanks to OldRaspy. Pours dark copper in color with a off white head. Aroma of Pine, spicey and malt. Taste malt and spice with dry finish. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 15, 2007 Why ruin a perfectly good Belgian Strong is what I say - this one looked nice - Dark brown pour with a medium off-white head. Aroma is quite citrusy with some cinnamon and roasty-sweet malts detectable. Flavor was not so great with the cinnamon-spice and orange peel not melding well at all. Its drinkable and mouthfeel is decent, but its just off on the flavor. Not much that I enjoyed about it. DenverLogan (421), MileHi, Colorado, USA Dec 14, 2007 I don’t know how many years I’ve been buying this, drinking it fresh but more often agin it. This one if fresh. Mohagany color; lingering head. Roasted malt and spice aroma, with a taste also including honey, carob, rich amber and dark malts, dark candy sugar, cocoa, persimmon fruit. Big carbonation. A touch cloying with bitter notes at the finish, but overall a lovely Christmas beer fresh or aged. dchmela (1411), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 13, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours dark amber with small thick yeasty head. Dark fruit yeast aroma, not overpowering. Yeasty malty fizzy with plum and raisin in the taste. A little thin with some alcohol sneaking through in the back of the throat. Not overwhelming like some Xmas beers, very easy to drink and enjoy. mike1977ok (633), Netherlands Dec 13, 2007 Dark, plummy colour. Rich aroma of dark fruits comes through. This is quite fizzy on the tongue and relatively thin in texture. Flavour is heavy on malts and dark, dried fruits and it has a pleasant and not overpowering sweetness.
Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA Dec 13, 2007 Ahhhh... Another Christmas seasonal to try. I usually love these offerings but this one...not so much.
Looks pretty good in a glass. Nice and dark with a good head on it. Sp far, so good.
Smells kinda weird, this one. Very grape-like, very sweet with something in there I aint crazy about. Smells more like wine than beer.
I just don’t get this one. This should be in the wine section cause that’s what it is. Wine with a malty character is the best way I can describe it. I like the other Corsendonk beers but this one just isn’t for me, I guess. Disappointing. Saw this sitting there and hadn’t seen it before so I thought I would give it a shot. Should have picked up the Stone IPA instead.
