Jonte (801), Gothenburg, Sweden Nov 24, 2007 Bottle. Reddish brown color with a beige head. Aroma: Typical belgian. Spicy and sweet with notes of cloves, cardamom, oranges, syrup, cherries and some lighter hops. Taste: Sweet malt, oranges, alcohol, belgian yeast, cloves, cardamom, caramel and cherries. A high quality beer, but a bit too sweet for me. Belgian strong ale isn´t really my favorite beer type. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Nov 23, 2007 Pours mahogany with an amber hue, and a thick brown head. Strong sweet aroma of fruity bubblegum, with notes brown sugar, and spicy/minty overtones. Flavor is fruity sweet and spicy. Bubblegum and brown sugar hit right upfront, and last through the finish of clove, mint, and slight alcohol. Yeast throughout, just a hint of cocoa somewhere in there, and a nice undertone of oranges. Palate is medium/full, smooth, somewhat viscous, with some fruity and spicy flavors hanging on for a long finish. Nicely balanced, and certainly what I am looking for in a holiday ale. Best Corsendonk I’ve had so far. TorbenH (136), Frederikshavn, Denmark Nov 21, 2007 Bottle. Large light brown head, mostly lasting. Clear brown color. Heavy roasted malty aroma. Medium to full body. Long finish. Nice! golubj (1275), Sunnyvale, California, USA Nov 20, 2007 Bottle. Amber / brown pour with a thin off-white head. Very nice aroma of sweet malt, bubblegum, fruit, spices, and brown sugar. Lots of clove and brown sugar maltiness in the flavor. I didn’t expect clove to dominate this one, and it somewhat disappoints me that it does. badlizard (2324), Berkeley, California, USA Nov 18, 2007 750 ml bottle from Bevmo. Clear ruby brown with a fluffy tan head. Spicy cinnamon and clove aroma. Bright palate. Amazing orange and clove taste with a hint of roastiness and chocolate. Quite good. Ansset13 (127), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA Nov 18, 2007 The pour ids deep brownish, with a touch of red. Medium head with a tan color. The nose is ruled by nuts and complemented with sugar, dark dried fruit, and hints of yeast. The flavor is sweet, nutty, and has hints of other delicate flavors. A really great seasonly brew. xibalba89 (147), New York, New York, USA Nov 17, 2007 Updated: Dec 10, 2007Pours a dark brownish-red with a medium thick head. Aroma has tons of spices, with light hops as well. As it warms up, the dark fruits and nuts show up. The flavor is great... it keeps the spices up front, with a long lasting finish bringing out the darker elements. It reminds me of a spiced-up Rochefort or Trois Pistoles, but crisper and cleaner than either of those. Plus, it really does make me think of christmas, for some reason. A really great beer, I’ll be getting more of this this winter. phrygian68 (9), Columbiana, Ohio, USA does not count Nov 16, 2007 Next to the Rochefort Trappist 8 and 10 this is the best belgian dark ale that i have had! pours a dark mahogany with a nice tan 2 finger head! smell is of dark bread, apricots, raisens and figs, taste is the same with low carbonation and a smooth malty finish, wow what a great beer! cant wait till next christmas!
