Clear deep copper with a active, foamy medium off-white head that settles to a thin layer in 3-4 minutes. Fruity aroma with figs and rasins, some spiciness, and a bit of bubblegum sweetness as well. Highly carbonated which adds to a sharpness on the palate, medium body. Sweet toffee flavor with some spicy bitterness to provide good balance. Very enjoyable. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 23, 2007 Pours mahogany with an amber hue, and a thick brown head. Strong sweet aroma of fruity bubblegum, with notes brown sugar, and spicy/minty overtones. Flavor is fruity sweet and spicy. Bubblegum and brown sugar hit right upfront, and last through the finish of clove, mint, and slight alcohol. Yeast throughout, just a hint of cocoa somewhere in there, and a nice undertone of oranges. Palate is medium/full, smooth, somewhat viscous, with some fruity and spicy flavors hanging on for a long finish. Nicely balanced, and certainly what I am looking for in a holiday ale. Best Corsendonk I’ve had so far. TorbenH (136), Frederikshavn, Denmark
