Nov 15, 2007 Bottle (75cl) from BevMo. Deep amber in color. Sweet and somewhat spicy aroma. Very fruity smelling. Flavor is very spicy. Dark fruit with a bit of sweet yeastiness. Reminds me of 2006 Trader Joe’s beer. Very dry finish with a hint of bitterness and fruit.

Nov 13, 2007 11.2 ounce bottle in Gulden Draak tulip. Dark brownish red with lasting light brown head and lace. Mild chocolate and spicy aroma with some alcohol. Smooth mild chocolate raisin plum flavors with spicy dry finish and some mustiness (why?). Medium body and medium carbonation. Pretty nice but I’m thinking more and more that Belgian dark Christmas beers is not a personal favorite style.

Nov 11, 2007 Dark, almost opaque body with a light colored fluffy head. Aroma is subtle with a hint of hops, but mostly malt and a bit of vanilla. Palate was nothing special, although the taste very complex. There is a bit of spice, but interestingly a hint of mint.

Nov 10, 2007 Updated: Jan 1, 2008I’m not good enough for this beer. I hesitate to rate it. On tap at the Vintage Estates, thanks Nuts. Very nice aroma, perhaps some alky strong intent on the olfactory.Slightly dark, but certainly not dark brown or black. Some haze is present. Nice lacing. Strongish wine or whisky flavors. Mild carbonation tickles the middle of the tongue.. Alky flavors not well hidden in this belgie brew, they intensify during the session. Odd spicey sensations trace each sip. Finish is whisky laced beer. Does not do homage to their abbey brown.

Nov 7, 2007 Updated: Dec 29, 2007Santa defintely swigs this stuff....subtly spicy, Belgian yeast and rich dark malt notes throughout, a little bit of citrus zest hits the back of the throat - like Chimay Bleu pretty much, which means ITS AWESOME!

Nov 2, 2007 Flaske. Fan....tastic juleøl. SMager som en hvidtøl bare med procenterne til at bære det. Karboneringen hjælper også i starten med at give et lille bid, så den står rigtig godt til en flæskesteg.
