Bottle from Dranken Verheyen in Poppel. The beer is dark ruby colored and pours a large cream colored head, with a lot of bubbles. The aroma is a spicy and fruity palate and has clear tones of figs, cloves, caramel, plums, dark fruits and sherry. The taste is medium bodied to full and has a lot of sweetness with in the background also the spices from the aroma. The finish is warming from the nice alcoholic boost and lightly bitter. Very nice Christmas Ale, the best so far for me.

Wonderful aromas of complex malts and hints of alcohol. Pours a nice deep, dark mahogany color with beige head that dissipates quickly.

2014 edition; a very pleasant Christmas ale indeed! Into a wine glass, pours a dark ruby brown color with great lacing and head, also unleashes a simple but pleasant aroma of caramel malt and sugary candy. The flavor follows accordingly as a sweet caramel base with spicy pumpkin pie-like notes, rich and warming. Alcohol content is well masked and this brew did not strike me as boozy in any aspect. Very smooth mouthfeel and sweet finish rounds out a very positive experience, happy holidays!

(75 cl bottle; BBD: October 25th 2015; poured into a Rochefort goblet) Reveals a dark brown body with one finger tan head that dissipates quickly leaving film and decent lace on the sides of the glass. Aroma has notes of toffee and not much else. Oily texture with lively carbonation, medium body and an astringent, tart finish that feels a bit weird. Flavour is mildly sweet with ligthly tart notes. Is this a hybrid of a tripel and a dubbel I wonder? Not my favourite cup of tea.

Mooie roodbruine kleur met een volle kraag. Ruikt vanille, mout, kruiden. Smaakt zoetig, vanille, chocolade.

Bottle from Belmont Station. A fitting glass on Christmas Day! Colour...a deep, ruby amber with a thick off white head. Nose..lightly fruity with notes of freshly risen bread dough and orange zest. Palate...delicately frothy up front with a slight bitterness to begin. Soon after a bit of sweetness follows, accompanied by flavours of mandarins and blood oranges. At the back of the palate notes of quince, kumquat and mulled spice make their presence known. The finish is long, slightly warming and has hints of boiled sweets. A lovely ale for Chtistmas night.

it has been 8 years, 8 months, and 3 weeks since i put this on my wishlist, put on originally 4/20/2006 .. . dark purple brown .. . awesome foam .. . lots and lots of prune, plum, grape, belgian yeast, and rich christmas pudding .. . very nice beer!

Oh Mr. Mayor, excuse me sir. I don’t mean to insult your city, but the people on this beach are very rude and hostile.

Well, I’m sorry to hear that... Captain Dork!
