Sweet malty brown sugar flavor. Medium, non-descript palate. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 3, 2006 Updated: Jun 4, 2007pours a darker amber color with a nice sized off white head, aroma of malts, belgian style spices, and alcohol, the taste is similar to its aroma a nice mix, not a bad beer at all, nice body, worth a try. mabjork (580), Vasa, Finland Jan 3, 2006 Bottled. Redbrown in colour with a tan head. An aroma that is fruity wih hints of caramel. The flavour is sweetish. oh6gdx (8802), Vasa, Finland Dec 31, 2005 Bottled. Dark amber coloured, big beige foamy head. Weak aroma of malts and some grainy notes. Also kind of sweet. Flavour first malty then it turns sweet. Pretty boring in my opinion, I had expected more.... Kind of bitter/sourish aftertaste. bobaidan (358), Farmington, Connecticut, USA Dec 30, 2005 Updated: Dec 25, 2008Pours a dark brown. Much darker than I expected. Smallish head. There isn’t a very strong aroma, but what is there is primarily spicy. Flavor is spicy and malty, with a hint of warming alcohol. There is also a definite citrus character. The spicy flavor lingers and grows as an aftertaste. A pretty good ale for a cold winter night. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Dec 27, 2005 Smells very christmas spicy. A nice spicy dubbelish strong ale, thought the alcohol doesn’t take over. Quite good, but the best is still the brown. bmxutos (161), Lisboa, Portugal Dec 27, 2005 Bottel, 25cl. Hmmm, only 25cl. What a pity! When i was really starting to enjoy this one..... Pours a dark brown amber colour with hints of red. Huge beige head, mostly lasting. Nicely carbonated. Aroma is very complex, predominantly malty and spicy. Flavour is strong but not as good as the aroma. In fact, body is a litttle thin. It has notes of caramel, malt and coffee. A little less sweeter than i expected. A very good beer but, in my opinion, a bit over-rated. Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA Dec 26, 2005 Updated: Dec 25, 2006Bottle. Dark drown, copious head, excellent head retention and lacing. Malty aroma, hint of yeast and caramel. Strong, malty flavor, with raisin, roasted and spicy hints. Slight warming. Very smooth.
