bask (305), Leuven, Belgium Sep 2, 2005 Drunk on a hot summer day in Belgium (they exist :). Reddish brown colour, with a brown head. Strong maltiness in the aroma, with some cherry, citrus, sugar, spices. Full bodied, with some light caramel, alcohol and apples notes added in the flavour. Aftertaste is strong malty. Kevin (1917), Colorado, USA Aug 7, 2005 nice brown pour with a huge grey and brown specked head. pum and peach spiced lemon aroma with brown sugar. taste is malty spiced brown sugar, dates, and dough. caramel and lemon finish. lingering chocolate flavor. duff (5474), Surrey, Greater London, England Aug 6, 2005 Bottle. Way too sweet for me. There some nice clovey spicy, choc/caramel flavours. But theres a huge sticky candy sugar sweetness right at the start that dominates the rest of the flavour. If this was a little less sweet this would be quite good. IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Aug 3, 2005 Bottle poures a slightly hazy medium redish brown. Nice hefty light brown head and moderate lacing. Fruit, apples, raisons in the aroma and a moderatly smooth body. That belgian spice was quite subdues and the slight baryard mustiness was also very diminished. The alcohol was noticeable a bit more than I like. Not bad. pinkzambia (986), Boise, Idaho, USA Aug 3, 2005 Bottle: Lovely red-brown color with a light brown head and semi-sticky lacing. It shows off sweet scents of fruit. This beer is strong in every sense of the word. Along with the strong alcohol flavor there is a noticeable woody flavors as well as "dried apples in a wet envrinment." Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA Aug 1, 2005 Bottle. Strong iced tea color with thin film of bubbles for a head. Nose reminds me of peach iced tea. Taste-lotion, lots of spice, corriander, tea, brown sugar, syrup. Gets thicker and sweeter as it warms. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Jul 26, 2005 12oz bottle - Poured very dark brown with a beautiful soap sud like tan head. Aroma is raisins, coffee, yeast, brown sugar. Flavor is almost the same with a touch of chocolate, some honey sweetness and also some caramel. Beautifully smooth and carbonated enough to make it feel delightful on the palate. Alcohol cannot be found in this one. My son spilled about a quarter of the tulip glass on me when he tried to climb on my lap while I was watching TV. I liked this one so much I wanted to suck the spillage out of my T-Shirt. A great brew! Christmas in July is great! Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 22, 2005 Updated: Apr 21, 2006(Bottle 25 cl) Opaque, dark brown - close to black actually. An incredibly tall, creamy head. Extremely complex, I sense both dates, coffee and rum (!). Yeast and candi sugars is very evident, but it’s perfectly in balance and never gets cloying. The alcohol is perfectly hidden. A wonderful ale indeed. 140100
