JayBaxter (386), Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester, England Dec 25, 2008 Clear dark brown beer with a lasting large tan head, aroma is sweet and candy like with a malty finish. Taste is thick with sweet alcoholic fruits. joeyplush (328), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 24, 2008 Enjoying this one on Christmas Eve, 2008. Just returned from Church with my family and sister Jills gang, dinner (Maple Glazed Chicken plus Crabcakes) is almost ready, and I thought it apropos to crack this one first! Pours a dark reddish, amber with a thick tan head and excellent lacing. Aroma of dark fruits (cherries, plums), hops, spices, and caramel malt. Tastes of fruit and hops, with good carbonation and a slick finish. This is an outstanding beer which reminds me a bit of Ommegang Three Philosophers. Merry Christmas! Very dark brown, almost black. Very thin head that quickly vanished. Oily surface. Strong aroma right out of the bottle. Sweet caramel malt, toffee, coffee, spice, cookies. Very sweet and spicy. Cookieish, caramel. Great roasted malt and alcohol finish. It does not seem as strong as it is. Fantastic balance. Really an excellent brew. The alcohol, hops and roasted flavor balance out this strong sweetness very well. Traces of fruit, maybe oranges, and spice, maybe nutmeg.
tarjei (1741), Bryne, Norway Dec 24, 2008 Updated: Jan 7, 200975 cl bottle, vintage 2007. Dark brown reddish color, light brown head. Aroma is sweet malty, spices dried fruit. Flavor is sweet and malty, fine spices and fruit. I think one year in the cellar has done this beer good. Very nice! smjohnst (202), , Pennsylvania, USA Dec 23, 2008 Definitely a quality beer here. Very nice redish color going with the christmas theme. Lots of head and a nice thick flavor. BeerViking (189), Brentford, Greater London, England Dec 23, 2008 Updated: Feb 9, 200925cl bottle, bought in Brugge. Pours a dark reddish-orange with a white head. Little or no sediment in the bottle. Malt and brown sugar on the nose, with a hint of orange. The initial impression is of a sweetish brown ale, but then banana and a crisp yet gentle malty bitterness come through and linger, along with a hint of spice. The finish is dry and smooth. hellbilly (1492), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Dec 23, 2008 bottle BB 12/09/09
slightly hazy pour is maroon brown and capped by a thin tan head.
there are some floral tea-like qualities in the aroma underneath brown sugar, golden raisins, vanilla, sweet malt and cinnamon-y spiciness.
the flavor profile pretty much masks the aroma... along with some yeasty earthiness, faint chocolate and banana starch with a dry spiced finish. it is a bit sweet but definitely doable. light to medium bodied given the abv% with a smooth rich texture.
insanely easy to drink...

gmonroe10 (172), Netherlands Dec 22, 2008 Dark amber with a very fast dissipating head. Nose is fruity and taste is fairly complex but did not strike me as being as nice of a corsendonk as i remembered
