Brown/reddish, white foamy head. Aroma is spicy.. dark fruits, chocolate, nuts. Malty, sweet and smokey. Some alcohol in the taste but it’s not overwhelming. Moderate bitterness.

Nice stuff. Comes together great for style. Pours cloudy dark brown with good head and lacing. Some spice, strong florals and perhaps some clove. It’s been too long since I had a Corsendonk beer. Good stuff. Tap at Pizzeria Paradiso Georgetown.

1 pint 9.4 fluid ounce bottle poured into chalice. Great yeasty aroma with slight chance of fruit and a little bit of citrus. Pours a ruby red tinted dark brown with a rapidly dissipating fluffy tan head. Very smooth up front. A great mouthfeel with just a slight carbonation. Flavor of yeast, a slight spice and just a hint of citrus. A great holiday Belgium, especially at the price point.

0,75 L bottle from Vinmonopolet’s BU. Best before 05.09.16. Poured in trappist glass. Brown, slightly unclear body with very slight hints of red colour. Quite a lot of foamy, white head. Berry, malt and milk chocolate nose. Quite high carbonation. Smooth, medium thick body. Medium bitter, with some sweetness. Light chocolate, malt, some hay and hint of orange flavour. Also some smoke, a little vanilla, candy and cola. Red fruit, berries and some apple. A very, very good beer. Reminds me of Rochefort 8, but a bit milder and smoother. That is not a bad comparison in my book.

Mørk orangebrun klar med beige lavt skum. Karamell, krydder og hint av røde bær. Smaker søtlig karamell, krydder mot pepper og noe bitter smak. Sødmen ligger langt bak. Kort, litt tørr

Bottle. Dark brown with huge vrown head. Aroma dried fruit, raisins, spices. Taste sweet malts, licorice raisins. Nice. This beer has got a few hammerins in danish newspapers recently. I wonder if there a bad batch around because this one is up there with the best xmasbeers.

The head is ok, the body is dark brown. It smells malty, bit alcoholic, good balanced. The taste is malty, bit alcoholic, less hoppy, balanced. But way to young I think.

750 ml bottle into signature globe glass, best before 8/20/2015. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, orange peel, caramel, molasses, toffee, dark bread, nuttiness, light chocolate, coriander, light pepper/clove, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Incredible complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, orange peel, caramel, molasses, toffee, dark bread, nuttiness, light chocolate, coriander, light pepper/clove, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Slight earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, orange peel, molasses, toffee, dark bread, nuttiness, light chocolate, light coriander/pepper/clove, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and robustness of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/yeast balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely incredible Belgian strong Dark ale. All around amazing complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. An absolutely amazing offering. Love it every year.

There’s no explaination about this beer on the back label besides a short hint that you should serve it chilled… Are they kidding? Or what are they hiding? At fridge temperature you’ll kill everything strong belgian ales are about. That’s at least my opinion - but when you taste this beer, you might wel consider serving it a 6°C. The body is medium despite its 8,5% and the taste experience is quite flat, compared with other beers of this type. The mal sweetness is egalized by a spicy note and a subtle hop dryness.
