330ml bottle from Bierzwerg
BBE 18/10/14 - Pours dark brown with a medium head. Aroma of sweet syrup, ripe fruits, plum and malts. Taste is sweet, malty and slightly spicy with notes of ripe fruits and plum. Finish is strongish, spicy and sweet with notes of syrup and ripe fruits. Hints of tartness and citrus. Okay, quite balanced but generic Belgian dark ale.

Whole Foods, Bowery 33cl ($3): Pours opaque brown with a beige head. Aroma is spicy with fruity notes and some yeast. Taste is sort of sweet, but not really so much. Lots of dark malt. Some hop bitterness. Some dry, almost champagne-like feel. Aftertaste is pretty mild. Fair amount of complexity. Surprising easy to drink as well.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 scarletfire65 (734) - Rockaway Park, New York, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Bottle at home. Aroma is sweet malt, rather subdued. Medium bodied, low carbonation, very sweet underneath, with red fruit, Belgian yeast, dates, cinnamon, very Christmasy. The finish shows a crisp tartness, keeping it from being cloying, but no hop character whatsoever. Decent but a bit boring.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 kevinator (319) - The Colony, Texas, USA - MAR 15, 2013
Good but I was expecting more. Bready malts with a heavy grain essence. Cloudy brown with a creamy head. Medium to heavy palate. It had a comfortable feel. Medium to low carbonation. No noticeable hop presence, just malt. A little sweetness and more liquid bread. Alcohol was hidden well.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Kosmokrator (289) - ITALY - MAR 12, 2013

Generous sample shared by Karl - thanks! Deep murky brown with red hues and yellow-tan head. Nose of spicy fruit cake, baked bread, belgian yeast and candy. Flavor is a gently sweet cherry and raisin with biscuity malt, brown sugar, toasted nuts, and yeast spice. Faint toasted to lightly roasted malt. Well-attenuated with only a small amount of residual sweetness. Very nice.
