Aroma of sweet fruits, apricot, grape juice, and alcohol. Malty taste also included hints of some fruit, plums, hops, and alittle alcohol in the back. Seems juicy and very refreshing. Lot number 131484. $9.99 at Rip's. Poured out a deep, dark amber color, with a huge cappuccino colored head. It fades slowly back to yeasty islands floating on top of the beer.
Aromas are of slight smoky malts, brandied fruits, nutmeg, cinnamon, bready yeast, rum soaked plums, and definitely alcohol.
Tastes of smoky malt, spices, and dried, dark mascerated fruits.
Aromatic alcohols fill the nose along with the spices, and blend into a fruitcake in a glass. Rich mouthfeel, sharp tingly finish to it as well. No hops aromas, but a slight hops zing at the end, before it is swallowed. A really good Christmas beer. Would go really well with a rich Christmas feast, like a smoked goose, or a honey baked ham. One of the best seasonals I've ever had, bar none. sphinx (11), Eugene, Oregon, USA

Definately a winter ale - 8.5% leans towards a barley wine taste, but more of an ale - not as sweet, and prominent malty taste. Now I taste a spice flavor or some type - clove maybe, and slightly smoky flavor too. Excellent. Goes down smooth. ZOSOMAN12020 (27), Malta, New York, USA

( $4.00/ Shaker "pint". )Near perfect appearance/ aroma. Has "holiday" style spicing, but not overdone..in fact ideal balance and drinkabiity. "Belgium" yeasty flavors intact. Overall, best Holiday ale. Alcohol well-hidden. BT (85), Newtown, Connecticut, USA

Aroma has tons of spices, with light hops as well. As it warms up, the dark fruits and nuts show up. The flavor is great... it keeps the spices up front, with a long lasting finish bringing out the darker elements. It reminds me of a spiced-up Rochefort or Trois Pistoles, but crisper and cleaner than either of those. Plus, it really does make me think of christmas, for some reason. A really great beer, I’ll be getting more of this this winter.
