Bottle conditioned.
Marketed as Corsendonk Abbey Brown Ale in North America.
Launched 1982 by Jef Keersmaekers as Pater Noster. Brewed by Brasserie Du Bocq since launch.
Ingredients: Caramel, Pilsen and Munich barley malts, and Saaz, Kent and Hallertau hops
Brewed with roasted malt, hence its deep dark reddish colour. It is a mellow, dark, top-fermented beer, refermented and matured in the bottle to obtain a lively, bubbly beer with a rich head

Bottle at Cafe de Kuppe, Brugge. Dark brown in colour, big white head. Aroma is some citrus, chocolate and some alcohol. Taste is fruit and chocolate in a creamy mix with a long lasting finish. Really tasty!

Cloudy brown color, big creamy brownish head with good retention. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Aroma of dark fruits, roasted malts, yeast, caramel. Very smooth, silky mouthfeel. Medium sweet, light bitter taste. Finish is slightly dry. Excellent Dubbel!

0.33 bottle. Clear, brown color with a carmin tinge and a big, brownish head. Aroma has loads of malts but also quite a lot of yeasts, caramel, spices, and a touch of hops. Taste has a typical malty sweetness but also a hell lot of bitterness - not so good to be honest. Medium body, slick texture, and lively carbonation. Finish is a bit sweeter and a tad sourer but luckily less bitter than the taste, makes up a little bit for the lost impression. Overall the beer disappoints especially considering its beautiful aroma and the quality of other Corsendonks.

Tap at the Brouwcafe, Scheveningen. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy off white head and lots of broken lace. The aroma is big yeast, light malt. The flavour is medium bitter, light sweet, with a frothy yeast, roasted malt, liqourice bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Not bad but a bit one dimensional and old style Belgian.

Bottle that I almost forgot I had...date code 12/06. Thought 8 years might have been to long for this to hold up, but it did and did it well. Very lively and effervescent this had a real nice apple over barnyard funk to it. Very pleasantly sour as well. Awesome.

Appears brown with a big off-white head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate and hops. A fine balance between sweet and bitter. The body is medium and the carbonation overrules it sometimes. Not as complex as other Dubbel beers, but fine in its own way and good with meat dishes.

Transfer from BA review on 4-14-12 - Poured from 750 ml bottle into snifter glass Appearance – Pours a hazy dark brown color with a medium tan head. The head has a moderate persistence but eventually fades to give some lacing. Smell – The smell is bready and yeasty with strong dark fruit aromas. There are some lighter hints of banana, brown sugar and spice as well, mixing with the fruit and bread very nicely. Taste- The taste is up front of brown sugar and dark malt; a nice brown bready flavor. There is a development of the dark fruit flavors mixed with some banana and spice more toward the middle of the taste. Theses linger on to the end where they mix with a yeast cake flavor which when mixed with the dark bread of the initial taste is very pleasurable. Mouthfeel – The brew has a medium body with a slightly above average carbonation level. While the carbonation is a bit too high, as it takes a bit out of the smoothness, overall the mouthfeel is still not bad. Overall – This is a good easy sipping dubbel. Good malty and fruity flavors make for a very pleasing experience.

Trčs bonne, style typique d’une brune belge.
