COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Marketed as Corsendonk Abbey Brown Ale in North America.
Launched 1982 by Jef Keersmaekers as Pater Noster. Brewed by Brasserie Du Bocq since launch.
Ingredients: Caramel, Pilsen and Munich barley malts, and Saaz, Kent and Hallertau hops
Brewed with roasted malt, hence its deep dark reddish colour. It is a mellow, dark, top-fermented beer, refermented and matured in the bottle to obtain a lively, bubbly beer with a rich head

bottle (2014 expiry) from mathieuc, thanks! pours hazy light brown with a nice light beige head, some retention and lacing. fruitiness, caramel, lot of spices - coriander, molasses and roasted caramel malts. hint of acidity and umami, relatively dry herbal-grassiness. average to soft carbonation, medium body, medium long bittering grassy finish.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with medium head that settles quickly. Aromas of vegetables, brown sugar,spice, and roasted malts. Flavors are very similar with additional spice and licorice. Lots of carbonation. OK, but Belgium has better to offer.

What a beauty! Doesn’t look too extraordinary with those large bubbles, but it tastes like heaven. Aroma of sweet dates, very very sweet, plums and chocolate. Tastes the same, bit with more fruits, some of that cellar ageing for the fruits, sourness and little hoppiness noticeable. Medium bodied, it is perfectly crafted to hide the alcohol content. I had it a bit too warm, but it was fabulous.

Bottle. Dark brown, sediment. Wonderful dark malty, with belgian candi, dark marzipan, dark toffee on nose. Sweet dark malty. Body is medium full, dark malty, tasty. Nose was excellent, but body could be softer, fuller. But an excellent beer, good drinkability.

Sweet for an abbey dubbel but still great.Raisins is the foremost taste and aroma that comes to mind, hints of molasses, brown sugar, prunes. Pours reddish brown with oil slick head. Mouthfeel is also slick and finish is mildly dry. Truly enjoyable.

Corsendonk Pater Dubbel has a medium, cream colored head and a dark brown (ruby under light) appearance, with some light lacing left behind. The aroma is of spicy, sweet, bread, and the flavor is of peppery, spicy, sweet bread, coriander, a hint of banana, raisin, dark fruit, a touch of chocolate, and a mild bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and Corsendonk finishes semi-dry, sweet, and carbonated. Overall, this is another great Belgian ale, and I score it most excellent. RJT
