3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Eggshell head, darker muddy brown hue. Sweet malty aromas, with some slight fig, toffee, dark fruits and some candy. Flavor isnít as sweet as suggested in the aroma, but has solid toffee, maltiness, and almost a touch of a savory character. Medium slick body.

What a beauty! Doesnít look too extraordinary with those large bubbles, but it tastes like heaven. Aroma of sweet dates, very very sweet, plums and chocolate. Tastes the same, bit with more fruits, some of that cellar ageing for the fruits, sourness and little hoppiness noticeable. Medium bodied, it is perfectly crafted to hide the alcohol content. I had it a bit too warm, but it was fabulous.

Bottle. Dark brown, sediment. Wonderful dark malty, with belgian candi, dark marzipan, dark toffee on nose. Sweet dark malty. Body is medium full, dark malty, tasty. Nose was excellent, but body could be softer, fuller. But an excellent beer, good drinkability.

Sweet for an abbey dubbel but still great.Raisins is the foremost taste and aroma that comes to mind, hints of molasses, brown sugar, prunes. Pours reddish brown with oil slick head. Mouthfeel is also slick and finish is mildly dry. Truly enjoyable.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Corsendonk Pater Dubbel has a medium, cream colored head and a dark brown (ruby under light) appearance, with some light lacing left behind. The aroma is of spicy, sweet, bread, and the flavor is of peppery, spicy, sweet bread, coriander, a hint of banana, raisin, dark fruit, a touch of chocolate, and a mild bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and Corsendonk finishes semi-dry, sweet, and carbonated. Overall, this is another great Belgian ale, and I score it most excellent. RJT

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Great appearance, deep brown colour, Off-white and tiny head which quickly disappears. Spicy and caramel aromas, with nuances to some nuts. Yeasty flavour, well balanced though a little bit confuse. Watery texture, well carbonated, medium bodied. Strange overall, because of a metallic and soapy aftertaste that made me think that the beer was spoiled. Need to have again.

Frothing head, gotta love those. Not sure if Iíve had one from North America yet, for some reason. I canít believe this wasnít slightly aged in wine barrels, the nose is really something else, must just be the specific combination of hops, but itís just beautiful, very floral, red wine, a whole lot of raisin. Taste is more raisin and dark malt... usually when I say dark fruit Iím alluding to fig and dates but here itís all about the raisin, more than any other beer Iíve had. Lots of esters. Finish is nice and long. This is a great fíing beer, best dubbel Iíve had yet.
