Launched 1982 by Jef Keersmaekers as Pater Noster. Brewed by Brasserie Du Bocq since launch.
Ingredients: Caramel, Pilsen and Munich barley malts, and Saaz, Kent and Hallertau hops
Brewed with roasted malt, hence its deep dark reddish colour. It is a mellow, dark, top-fermented beer, refermented and matured in the bottle to obtain a lively, bubbly beer with a rich head

Bottle. Eggshell head, darker muddy brown hue. Sweet malty aromas, with some slight fig, toffee, dark fruits and some candy. Flavor isn’t as sweet as suggested in the aroma, but has solid toffee, maltiness, and almost a touch of a savory character. Medium slick body.

Krachtig bruisend, intens donker bruin. Crème achtige schuimlaag die lang blijft hangen. Geur met hint van fruit, port, hout doet zoet aan. Drinkt zich makkelijk weg, voelt zacht aan met een zachte afdronk. Weinig smaak in het palet aanwezig, ontwikkelt zich langzaam. Meer geur dan smaak.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Murky brown body with a thick beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, prunes and raisins. Flavour of wood, caramel and lightly roasted malt. Thin body with a slightly sticky texture. Overly fizzy carbonation. For me, Westmalle Dubbel has more depth of flavour, and a much better mouthfeel, but this is still a very good Abbey Dubbel.
