The aroma is super vinous- grapes, raisins, caramel-port, spicy dough, backstrap molasses, brown sugar, and super subtle cocoa nib. The flavor also pervades with sweetness, though unexpected touches of roast and spice make for a chalkily crisp sensation. Plum, raisin, and all manifestations of dark fruit are powerful, as are more dark candi-sugars and some bakers chocolate. The palate is medium to full with lively, pillowy effervescence that maintains it body throughout, and finishes quite crisply. Super interesting and wholly quaffable. craftycarl21 (630), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2010 Very dark brown pour with a light beige, fizzy head. Aroma has extreme notes of port, caramel, raisin, a bit of plum, dark spices, yeast, Burgundy wine, and a touch of molasses and brown sugar. Flavor is really nice, and has some unique notes that make it more intriguing than your basic abbey dubbel. A nice dry smoke is noticeable, along with touches of chocolate, more vinous notes, and dark fruit. Palate is very lively, with a defined effervescence and a light, semi-dry finish. Really a nice brew; combines solid flavor and depth with an impressive drinkability. dnstone (320), Mons, Belgium
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2010 Wonderfully sweet, floral dubbel aroma. A thin beer with earthy roastiness and a touch of alcohol. None of the sweetness of a typical dubbel; dry and hints of fruit. Pours brown with a fading white head. Dfonorow (56), New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 6, 2010 Pours dark brown with a very large off white head. Aroma of malts, raisins, and can’t really grasp much else. The taste is much different than the aroma, more complex and full of dark fruits, chocolate, and roasted malts. Very good. chrisv10 (437), Denmark

Pour was cola with an amazing cascade of long lasting beige head. Nose was the weak point with this brew, as I only picked up yeast and an odd damp cellar smell. Taste was malt, light (very surprising but pleasant) fruit cocktail, Belgian yeast, and a lovely dark chocolate that is very creamy, yet not overbearing, that lasts throughout the finish. This is a very delicious brew, with great lacing, that I can only knock for the aroma. If not for this one factor, I would have rated higher ... simply fantastic!
