alexanderj (2204), Chino Hills, California, USA Dec 26, 2008 Bottle from my sister for Christmas. Poured a dark, red tinted brown with a medium to large tan head. Aroma of yeast, brown sugar, light hints of caramel and fruit. The palate was pretty good with a healthy amount of carbonation. Coated the mouth well. Nice blend of flavors that got better with time. Caramel, brown sugar, cocoa, yeast and fruit. A really well done beer in a style that I really like. Travlr (694), Washington, Washington DC, USA Dec 19, 2008 Dark brown with thin tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate. Flavor of caramel and chocolate malt, slight bitter finish. Good one. dnas2 (627), Yelverton, Devon., Devon, England Dec 7, 2008 Brown with some cloudiness and an off-white foam head. Very carbonated. Lots of winter berries, treacle and sugar and some hints of tea on the end. Nice. elihapa (1028), Honolulu, California, USA Dec 6, 2008 Bomber, generously shared by Arthur. Pours dark brown with a good sized cream head. Soft aroma of sweet malt and earth. This beer starts soft, dancing lightly on the palate with a full-bodied mouthfeel and crisp carbonation. Soft fruit and malt ease in, blending with a delicious nutty character. Corsendonk finishes with lingering sweetness, complemented with some toasted chocolate. Really nice. This beer reminded me of Rochefort 8, although I’m sure the styles are quite the same. branspra (204), Arlington, Virginia, USA Nov 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with an extremely large, brownish head. Aromas of chocolate, raisins, port, and molasses. Very lively palate with a thin, oily texture. Long aftertaste that is smooth. Wonderful beer. beerlady (443), lucerne, Switzerland Oct 30, 2008 brown beer with a beige head who lets some traces when dissapearing

aftertaste is bittersweet and malty-fruity LordCorkscrew (939), Ronco Scrivia (GE), Italy Oct 26, 2008 Una dubbel decisamente ’carica’ con una splendida dolcezza e sentori balsamici al naso, un corpo un po’ troppo leggero (e frizzantezza inadeguatamente elevata) ma sapore pieno e avvolgente, con note di uvetta e cannella. beerbill (1917), Laurel, New York, USA Oct 25, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy brown with a large off-white head that faded to a film by mid-glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of yeast, brown sugar, and a bit of spice. The flavor is caramel, yeast, brown sugar and some spice. Mild bitterness at the finish and a bit dry towards the finish as well. I had read the description on the bottle before opening this beer and was expecting ’’rich malt with notes of port, raisins, and black chocolate,’’ none of which I experienced. Still, a solid beer.
