lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 30, 2008 Dark dark brown almost black and a thin fervent tan head disappears instantly. Yeasty spicy aromas. Lots of visible carbonation. Taste is very light bodied despite the color and not as good as I remember, fails to open up as it warms. Cozytoesflava (3), milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA does not count Sep 27, 2008 Qualities of both an abbey and a brown. Blends to a surprisingly pleasant combination. Underwhelming fining however. FatPhil (3433), Espoo, Finland Sep 22, 2008 750ml bottle (Alko)
Dark brown, viscous. Sweet plummy aroma. Very soft palate. Rich malt base, gentle hops. Good, but lacking the special something that the other Corsendonks have had. Sweet spicy finish. mirjukka (695), LOHJA, Finland Sep 21, 2008 bottle 750ml shared. Thanks to FatPhil&Anna. Color dark brown transparent beige head Scent: sour dried fruits Taste: roasted malts dried fruits, sweet spicy on sour ground. Long bit sticky aftertaste luttonm (274), Belgrade, Serbia Sep 19, 2008 750ml bottle. Dissipating cola appearance, without much of a head on our bottle (nothing like that picture, for instance!). Slightly metallic but lucious and fruity aroma. slightly less carbonation than i would have expected. deep if not very complex mouthfeel with a quick, dry finish. sweet and mildly sticky, doesn’t rate to the Nostradamus. trevor211 (499), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 19, 2008 Pours a sad cola brown with a fizz. Not a head, a fizz. It was gone within 20 seconds, leaving a flat liquid. The carbonation is low enough in this brew that it leaves me wondering if it did in fact come from Belgium. The aroma has notes of a typical Belgian brown ale, but is slightly more metallic. It has a wonderful flavor - much like one of the greats (Nostradamus)... but there’s not enough of it. It’s weak at first, and it just dies - no aftertaste. This was disappointing. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 14, 2008 Pours a deep dark mahogany with a large creamy beige head. Taste is rich with roasted malts and toffee flavors and a subtle coffee undertone. Tastey, very pleasent. Aroma is nutty, noticeable oak with a soft hint of smoke. TaxiDriver (904), Stadland, Germany Sep 13, 2008 Bottle. A little bit of an dry red wine, moderate malty, later on light yeasty. A vey large creamy off-white head, which is long lasting; a dark red body. The taste is light bitter with a medium duration. A creamy and sparkling texture with a rather lively carbonation and a medium body. A very nice beer!
