Corsendonk Pater (Abbey Brown Ale)

Bottle. A little bit of an dry red wine, moderate malty, later on light yeasty. A vey large creamy off-white head, which is long lasting; a dark red body. The taste is light bitter with a medium duration. A creamy and sparkling texture with a rather lively carbonation and a medium body. A very nice beer!

Very nice look to it. Normal brown ale aroma with a hint of chocolate. Taste is very comparable to New Castle with a little bit more body.

hazy brown with a fluffy off white head. Roasty aroma with notable hints of yeast. Toffee, malts, and spice.

Murky brown. Dry smell with an earthy quality to it. The flavor has some of the earthy/smoky quality to it I associate with a farmhouse saison. A little hint of chocolate or toffee in the finish. Very dry, but still a nice body.

35,5cl bottle from Vinmonopolet. It poured a red-brown colour with a big beige head that settled down fast in the glass. It has a fruity flavour that smells of raisins and yeast. The flavour is slightly bitter and tastes of raisins, malts and a hint of coffee. It has a short aftertaste.

Pours a nice amber/brown with a frothy tan head. Aroma is sweetish with predominant yeast. Flavors are a bit fruity, but not as sweet as expected. Weakest point of this beer is that it is a bit thin, and somewhat overcarbonated. Good beer.

Bottled. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a very large foamy head. Aroma is full of yeast and slightly malty. Taste is malty and slightly sweet, like black cherries. I was expecting much more sweetness. The bottle recommends serving at 45-55 F but I didn’t like the palate. A little too much bite. I enjoyed it much more as the beer warmed.
