jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA May 31, 2007 Pours mahogany amber with a huge foamy tan head. Lightly fruity aroma, with notes of light spicy yeast. Mostly roasted malt flavors, with very little sweetness, only a hint of a fruity undertone, a slight smoked note, and just a hint of bitterness in the finish. Palate is medium, silky, dry, and lightly bitter. Great mouth-feel, and very easy drinking, but the flavor is a bit muted. dmac (1414), Toms River, New Jersey, USA May 29, 2007 750 ml bottle shared with rebelbeerguy. Poured an awesome looking crisp clear brown with a phenominal head. Aroma was very nice with yeast, dark fuit and sugar. Flavor was a little flat and dry compared to the aroma but still nice. Good starter Belgian. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA May 29, 2007 Tap. Small, tan, creamy head (good lacing). Brown body. Aromas of light spices which include some perfumyness. Also bubble gum and roasted malts were present. Overall I enjoyed this brew, though I usually prefer slightly stonger (in all respects). cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA May 18, 2007 Rated 4/21/06: This is my first dubbel so I don’t have anything to compare this too so I will rate it solely on the beer itself. Poured slowly into my glass this beer is an intensly rich brown color that produces a pillowy head. Crazy amounts of lacing stick to the glass and the foamy head never goes away. After this beer warmed up a thick aroma became present. Very earthy tones are present, the aroma is malty and slightly sweet and nutty. The longer I let this one sit the more intense the aroma becomes it is similar to the previous Belgium styles I have had and really wonderful. Robust flavor that is exceptionally crafted. Very malty indeed with some subtle roasted qualities. The flavor doesn’t sway much from the nice aroma although it does seem to be a tad more mellow. The tinge of sweetness in the aroma is also present. Overall I was surprised how much I liked this dubbel, It only got better until it was gone. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA May 18, 2007 Bottle from BevMo, La Mesa. Deep ruby color upon pouring. Slightly sweet aroma with some sour fruit. Somewhat dusty smelling. Very dry. Some sweet chocolate along with some dusty dark fruit. bdjames29 (272), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 12, 2007 Bottle. Tasty and easy to drink. Coke colored pour, highly carbonated. The head was small on this bottle and settled farly quickly which I believe for this brew is uncharacteristic. Very naturally sweet with what I thought to be a touch of smoke. Clean finish. Good, but not a repeat for me. BeerBiker (1384), Odense, Denmark May 12, 2007 Thisone was too old and "cellered" in wrong conditions. Soory Corsendonk, because I know you’re a very, very good beer, so I have to rerate you on sunday in Valby!! hellbilly (1492), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA May 11, 2007 mmm...warm beer. one of the best dubbels. not too sweet. malty, yeasty and very well balanced. just wish it wasn’t so expensive
