Commercial Description:
Has a very distinctive bouquet: yeasty, fruity and slightly smoky. In palate, it has notes of port, raisins and black chocolate. Editor's note: Apparently production has moved from Van Steenberge to du Bocq as of Sept 2007.

Bottle Dark amber pour with big microbubble head and good lacing. Aroma of fruit and dark malts. Flavor follows aroma with a bit of nut and caramel. Alcohol is pretty big and not too well hidden. Smooth, good brew.

Aroma of cracked pepper, spices, yeast. Medium mouthfeel, flavors of prunes, dates, bread with a delightful, dry chocolatey finish. Not anywhere near as sweet as most dubbels, and I like that about this beer.

Bottle. Pours a medium brown with a very thin head. Some rasins, caramel and wheat in the aroma. Medium body. Flavor also has the raisins, caramel and wheat, and some smokiness. I preferred the Pale Ale, but this was still enjoyable.

Pour is a brown with a large tan head. Aroma is wine like with notes of cherry and wheat. Flavor is apple and raisons with some chocolate and spice. It reminds me of a chocolate covered strawberry. Sweet but and underllying tartness. Very tasty and worth the price.

Bottle, best before 24/08/08. Surprisingly clear; dark brown with red highlights. Humongous and lasting light-brown foam. Aroma is spiced bubblegum and pepper. Taste is raisins soaked in dry sherry, with slight bubblegum; some brown sugar and alcohol aftertaste. Palate is surprisingly flat, medium-light and dry. Good beer, but the alcohol takes a little too much of the spotlight for only 7.5%.
