Commercial Description:
Has a very distinctive bouquet: yeasty, fruity and slightly smoky. In palate, it has notes of port, raisins and black chocolate. Editor's note: Apparently production has moved from Van Steenberge to du Bocq as of Sept 2007.

Corsendonk is one of the best beers I have had in a long time. Chocolatey and full of other indescribable flavors, there’s a lot going on in that glass. And the head sticks around halfway through dinner, which is pretty cool.

Surprisingly sour. It does have fruit, malt, and yeast as well. Aroma leads me to expect some type of brett infected beer. Light brown and very cloudy. The head is thick and lasts a long time. I get some grape in the flavor as well as dandelion. Dry, woody finish. Should this be sour? It seems I’m not the only person to have a sour bottle.

Bottle: Poured a chocolate milk shake color brown. The head was a creamy tan which seemed to keep growing until the bar was covered with its goodness. The aroma was a fruity sweet and malt smell. The taste was sweet fruit and with hints of candi/caramel malt.

Pours dark brown / garnet with a fizzy tan head. The aroma has dark fruits (black cherry, figs, plums), candi sugar, earthy yeast and is fairly malty. Medium body with a fair amount of fizzy carbonation. The taste starts with caramel malt, fruits from the aroma and some sourness with a yeasty twang. The finish has more earthiness, spice and carbonation spritz. Further down the bottle it gets richer and fuller. A good solid dubbel.

I love the bottle conditioned ales, this one is no exception. Pours with a nice champagne like foam. Has a nice carbonation, altho doesn’t quite explode in your mouth. Carbonation wears off quite a lot in an hour or so. This does feel a little thin compared to some trippels and quadruppels and is quite an easy drink. On the dry side, dried fruits. I would have this one again.

Pours a dark brown with a bubbly head, aroma of caramel and dried fruit, perhaps some raisin type flavor in the taste, bottle also mentions smoky taste which I can agree with to a small degree. It’s a pretty nice beer and I’d have it again if some of my other favorite Belgians weren’t available.
