It’s a pretty nice beer and I’d have it again if some of my other favorite Belgians weren’t available. tomthompson89 (1471), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 14, 2007 Pours a hazy, murky brown with a one finger head that rapidly fades to a spotty cap and ring, and leaves behind an adequate lacing.
Smell; lots of rich caramel malts and dark fruits (plums, raisins and some apples). There’s almost a ginger snap spiciness as well as a touch of alcohol.
Taste; mmmm....plums, raisins, pears and apples all make a really nice appearance, along with a sweet and rich caramel maltiness. The ginger that I noted in the aroma came out in the flavor more than I was expecting, and there’s a bit of lemon in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, but the carbonation is a bit on the sharp side which hurts themouthfeel a bit. sojifio (11), madison, Alabama, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 7, 2007 [Bottle, January 2007] Dark brown frothy brew. Woody/Oaty aroma. The taste has traces of raisins - can’t detect much of a chocolatey taste as advertised. Slightly bitter but not overbearing. Very nice and surprisingly ’light’ mouthfeel - a ’wet’ tasting beer. Good, crisp aftertaste. Great beer to have with a meal. asheft (1381), Marburg, Germany

Excelent aroma of woody sourness and prominent noble hops in balance with a sweet raisiny dark malt. Pours a cloudy brown with a large top of large bubbles that recedes to a thick, lasting cover that is replenished by this beers effervescence. Orval-like flavour with less bitterness and less dry. Woody, sour, dried apricots, tobacco, candi sugar. Subtle bitterness thta may not be enough for the residual sweetness and body. Highly carbonated and not as warming as expected. Medium to full body. jzzbassman (842), New Albany, Mississippi, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 6, 2007 Poured a dark brown with a frothy tan head that was long lasting. Aroma was smoky with vinuos notes. Flavor continued smoky, yeasty, and bitter chocolate. Arayaga2 (946), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 2, 2007 Dark brown with a fluffy tan head. Aroma is effervescently fruity spicy. Taste is somewhat drier than I expected from the aroma, but it’s not bad.
