bobaidan (358), Farmington, Connecticut, USA Mar 18, 2006 Pours an opaque brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is malty mixed with alcohol. Flavor is sweet and fruity with a tartness in the background. Nice complex flavor. BeerLimey (1873), California, USA Mar 9, 2006 Slightly hazed brown appearance, decent head formation. Intense rich dark fruity nose, dark cherries, plums and prunes. Sweet fruity, cherry flavor, chocolaty. Dryish toasted finish with a lingering aftertaste of cherry centered chocolates. MRSHLLmx (7), New Jersey, USA does not count Mar 8, 2006 Not as satisfying as I expected it to be. Very nice, malty aroma and a huge head. Malty flavor is definitely strong, and the fruity flavors are nice, but the sharp bitterness was not that great. Blander than expected. I didn’t think it was as complex and enjoyable as the Pale Ale, but it’s still a good beer. trafford (171), Germantown, Tennessee, USA Mar 8, 2006 Updated: Oct 3, 2006This was my 2nd ’Abbey’ ales from Corsendonk and it was much better than the Pale Ale. The flavor was much more developed than the pale ale and had a nice buttery finish. I will grab another one for sure. clueo (112), Pennsylvania, USA Mar 7, 2006 A nice dark brown color. This beer has a nice aroma and a nice finish. This beer both looks and tastes great!! Birdiebeagle (777), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 6, 2006 Bottle Pours a hazy amber with a good tan head. Mostly lasting. Aroma is lightly sweet with port chracteristics. Has a nice flavor with a small touch of sweetness. Decent duration and a good aftertaste. Has a good soft hardy body to it. Well carbonated and very refreshing. It is a good beer. Lubiere (4462), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Mar 4, 2006 Brown opalescent ale, that gushed out of the bottle after serving the first glass, too carbonated. The head was off-white to light moka. In aroma, maderized sugars, like a port, and a bit phenolic. In mouth, lightly oxidized, almost unpleasant, with orange peels, sour points, a bit of bitter chocolate. This bottle was not in top shape. Bottle at l’Autre Oeil, March, 3 2006. jgentgesdo (564), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Feb 28, 2006 Pours muddy amber with medium tan head. Nose is faintly soapy with hints of malt and grain. The flavor is heavily balanced toward malt and begins with a strong plum/prune flavor, segueing into a spicy yeastiness towards the end. Some banana flavor as well. Phenolic. Ends mildy bitter. Sweet and creamy. Alcohol very well hidden. Pretty good beer, but there are better abbey dubbels.
