| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 28, 2005 bottled. Properly poured at 42deg.F into a crystal tulip glass, an instant burst of meringue like cap stacks out of the glass.
This cap lasts the drink giving true "Belgian lace" on the glass sides. Deep chestnut brown in color. Nose is of dried fruits, cloves/spice and musty honey. Taste is a departure from the sweet aroma this ale...this Pater ale is quite dry and warming with ample malt body and a slick mouth feel....taste is accented by impressions of pears, green apple and red grape skins, spicey yeast notes in the finish. This is a warming but dry, verging on tart, dubble...very nice. fishingnet (1047), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 5, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with ruby highlights and a large light tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of fresh malt, caramel, dark fruit, and a hint of dark chocolate. Taste is the same as aroma with a well balanced bitterness. Medium mouthfeel that finishes dry. A well balanced and easy drinking Dubbel. haddon90 (1044), Alexandria, Virginia, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 18, 2007 Rated 4/21/06: This is my first dubbel so I don’t have anything to compare this too so I will rate it solely on the beer itself. Poured slowly into my glass this beer is an intensly rich brown color that produces a pillowy head. Crazy amounts of lacing stick to the glass and the foamy head never goes away. After this beer warmed up a thick aroma became present. Very earthy tones are present, the aroma is malty and slightly sweet and nutty. The longer I let this one sit the more intense the aroma becomes it is similar to the previous Belgium styles I have had and really wonderful. Robust flavor that is exceptionally crafted. Very malty indeed with some subtle roasted qualities. The flavor doesn’t sway much from the nice aroma although it does seem to be a tad more mellow. The tinge of sweetness in the aroma is also present. Overall I was surprised how much I liked this dubbel, It only got better until it was gone.
