Commercial Description:
Has a very distinctive bouquet: yeasty, fruity and slightly smoky. In palate, it has notes of port, raisins and black chocolate. Editor's note: Apparently production has moved from Van Steenberge to du Bocq as of Sept 2007.

Rich, warm, yeasty brew. Very drinkable and friendly to drinker. Simplistic but in best production. Nice !

Amber-brown body with a dense, ultra-fine particulate haze and a velvety off-white head. Aroma is of cloves, bananas, rich toffee-like malt, and notes of cherries and chocolate. Malty, juicy flavor. Rather tart with a prominent cherry quality. Moderately sweet with a sufficiently bitter balance. Very pleasing.

Pours with a copious, perennial head; fruity, roasted aroma, some dates or raisins prevelant; oaky, woody, flavor with slight fruity esters showing up; fairly thin body; tastey, smooth, quite quaffible, not much aftertaste; quite drinkable; a good, "mellow" Belgian.

Incredible head, huge, frothy, lasting. Darkbrown beer. Malty brew, raisins all over the place. Aftertaste develops into a very nice sourness. Excellent brew.

Rum and raisins with a hint of smoky malts on the nose. Pours a dark brown with a nice cream head that laces the glass. Flavor is spicy on the tongue with a buttery rum-like body and a fuity malt finish. I also get notes of coconut and a nuttiness like roasted almonds. Dry with a medium body and plenty of fizz. A well crafted and balanced dubbel.

Very nice taste. Fruity and with a slight touch of yeastyness. Has to be enjoyed above 5 degrees C or else it can have some alcoholic aftertaste. A great beer!

33cl bottle. Pours a cloudy medium-brown, with a good lacey head that sticks to the glass. Aroma is malty and pretty slight compared to similar beers. Creamy, smooth mouthfeel and a sweet, developing flavour - fruit, wine & chocolate. Sweet finish, giving way to alcoholic warmth.
