0.33L bottle. Pours clear orange wihta frothy white head that dissipates quickly. Vinous aromas with apple and minerals / dust. Flavor is mild sweet with some of the apple flavor coming through along with some caramel. Quickly goes to an herby hop and yeasty bitterness that lingers for a long time, leaving a chalky feeling on the tongue. Light body with a slick mouthfeel and very active carbonation. Overall, just ok. Some nice, almost cider-like qualities to this, but nothing to write home about.

330ml bottle from Vanuxeem. Pours hazy amber with medium off-white head. Taste is rather bland, with an earthy, leafy boring brown bitter feel about it. The very slightest hint of dark fruits. Not a lot else to say really.

Alengrin (2124) - BELGIUM - OCT 17, 2014
Amber ale launched for the 500th birthday of the town of Oud-Turnhout. Yellowish white, coarse, not very stable head over a coppery amber beer, clear. Aroma of walnuts, caramel, white pepper, tomato, pear, iron, grass, but also cardboard or old newspapers, quite strong even, and off-putting. Dry fruity onset, caramelly and nutty malts, light spicy hints, malt sweetness, dryish finish, metallic with rather thin structure due to insufficient hoppiness. Unbalanced, but I’m willing to re-rate this as the sample I tasted, was one of the first brews, from tap at one of Ben Vinken’s Bierpassieweekends.

Beautiful appearance. Copper and hazy. Malty smell but the taste is very unremarkable.

Kleurplaatje (23) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 9, 2014
UPDATED: OCT 23, 2014 Pours hazy, dark orange color, thick frothy white head and quite a nice lacing. Looks appealing. Aroma is quite malty. Some bread, bit yeasty, small hints of citrus hops... Quite bland actually. Taste is pretty bready and bland as well. Malty and sweet. A bit spicy as well. It’s fine, but nothing that special actually. Aftertaste ist a bit sweet with a slight bitterness that lasts not that long. Some bitterness as well, but not that strong. Small alcholic warmishness also. Oily texture, but a watery mouthfeel, medium body and quite lively carbonation. Drinkable, but nothing that special. Not bad though, but just a bland brew that lacks a more refined and deeper taste. Especially when you consider it’s a Belgian...

Hazy amber beer, lacing head. Aroma: grains, brown sugar, fruit. Medium body. Sweet taste. Caramel finish. Good again with Belgian stuff.

Trappist1 (525) - Diest, BELGIUM - AUG 27, 2014
deep orange to almost dark copper color, huge airy fluffy off-white head. Malty nose, traditional Belgian yeast, bit grainy, bit peppery, hints of iron (while not present). taste: malty, with a very malty finish, albeit balanced. trying to have a fruity palate. easy drinking, pretty straightforward. sweet finish, with a bitter tone. above average carbonation. cant impress me, but is not that bad neither.

Bottle. Slightly hazy amber color. Yeast and copper aroma, little boozy, Ementhaler, hint of pickles, walnuts. Large copper / steel taste, subsequent sips are fresh and sour. Little watery. Aftertaste is sweet, orange. Nice pick if you are looking for a low alcohol pct. special beer.

An okay Belgian golden ale. Light looking, crisp and dry. Some grass and hay, lemon.

Een heel lekker bier waar je goed van kan doordrinken maar dat toch een goede smaak heeft.
